Blue Bird Meditation. "Be your most gentle self." Checka and Shakta collaborated on this project with the intention that this audio album would be a lovely balance between communicating in a way that honors children’s depth and wisdom and giving them tools that are fun and totally relevant to their lives and interests.

Lie down and relax.

Let your body be still and close your eyes.

Now take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Again take a nice deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Imagine that you are walking through a golden meadow in summertime.

The sunshine feels warm and gives you energy.

You reach the edge of the forest and amidst the rustling of leaves and the breeze you hear a small sound.

The sound is coming from a bird and the bird sounds frightened.

You look down and see a baby bluebird who has fallen from his nest.

The nest is on a low branch but he is too young to fly back up on his own.

As you think about how to help,

Take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Move gently and slowly as you bend down near the bird.

Look into his eyes.

Let him know with your eyes that you are there to help.

Be your most gentle self so the bird knows he is safe.

Nearby you see a wide flat piece of bark that has fallen from a tree.

Moving slowly,

Pick up the bark and just place it near the bird.

Watch and wait patiently.

Take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.

The bluebird steps onto the bark and you feel your heart shine.

Lift the branch slowly and carefully until the bird can hop back into his nest.

Notice how good it feels to help.

Now imagine one year later you are back in the meadow.

This time you are lying down just enjoying the warmth of the sun.

You are alone but you do not feel lonely at all.

As you lie there,

You feel the soft brush of a feather against your hand.

The bluebird has come back to say thank you.

Stay very still as the bluebird makes his visit and then flies away.

Now take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.

Gently open your eyes,

Sit back up and have a wonderful day.
