1 Practice For 1000 Decisions
How do you know which road is the one less travelled? Sometimes it’s seems impossible to make a decision between two choices. because both offer potential. Which potential you choose to risk what goodness you do have for, reveals what you value the most so remember, just as stars and sun’s shadow are guides, so too are your deeper longings. Here's an alternative practice to help you make choices from a deeper wisdom. Thank you so much to all who share/comment & donate. You are seen & heard.

Many of us long to let our wiser bodies weave their own way through this life,
Trusting in their ability to guide us where we need to go.
Our body still knows how to find its own way home.
We are all etched with maps upon the whites of our bones that tell us where we belong.
Navigation is as intrinsic to us as it is to all nature beings,
And when we lose our way,
When we forget our ability to choose wisely,
We must learn to trust in the compass that came in the shape of a heart.
These times ask that much of our day be spent disorientated from our internal navigation system,
Relying not on senses but on a satellite in our pocket.
No wonder we get lost so easily and find ourselves making homes out of halfway houses.
When faced with a split in the road in the middle of the woods,
It is hard to know which road will become the one less traveled and therefore more authentic to us.
One road will always lure us with its beauty,
While the other will offer us a closer relationship with our own feet.
Sometimes it's just not clear.
It's not an unpaved overgrown wondrous track versus a clearly paved highway.
Sometimes they blend,
Bridging branches and scattering gravel towards each other,
Making it hard to see if there's even a road to be chosen.
We want the universe to make things clear for us,
For sea glass to catch the high moon's light and guide us home along its beam.
We want to smell juniper cast upon open fires and hear the songs of our people so we can track them down.
Upon a migration that crosses thousands of miles and four generations,
We don't want to be the monarch who forgot its way and became the lost link in the chain.
We want to trust that our body knows how to return,
Even if we've never been there before.
Knowing which way to go next helps us survive,
Psychologically and physically,
And it all comes down to the roads we take.
So which one will you choose next?
Let us close our eyes and discover the lost art of wise decision making.
Begin to tenderize these bones with the loving weight of each breath.
Each inhale and exhale softens you from the inside out.
Release the day,
The immediacy of things,
And allow yourself to tend to this one moment here knowing you will have time after to see to many more.
Deepening the breath opens the heart.
It disarms the army of ribs that protect it,
And an open heart is a responsive one.
Can you feel how its longing to share its wisdom with you?
Can you feel how it wishes to sing itself into your throat and into the mouth and out into the world?
Like the heaving chests of small summer birds,
We all have a song to set free.
Dive your breath deep into the belly now.
Take a long,
Spirit-drenching inhale and exhale through the mouth.
One more time,
A deep inhale touch the spirit and exhale passing through the heart and out through the mouth.
I'd like you to think about a choice you have at the moment that is causing you most pain.
A choice you might have to make between two different things.
Give each one a name,
For example,
Invest in this relationship,
Or leave this relationship,
Or move country versus stay where I am.
Now straighten both arms in front of you,
Palms up,
And place one choice in each palm like large iridescent bubbles resting in your hands.
Which choice rests in your left hand?
What is its name?
Lift it up and down to feel its weight.
Release all your emotions,
Your desires,
Conflicts,
Questions related to this choice into your bubble.
Really feel the choice in all its complicated and beautiful energy.
Now switch hands and lift your right palm up.
What is the choice in your right hand?
What is its name?
Place all your emotions,
Your longings,
Your hopes and fears regarding this choice into your bubble now.
You hold two choices now,
A road has split before you.
Bring both hands towards your chest now,
As if you were holding a large bowl,
Or giving an invisible person a hug,
Palms facing inward.
Push your left hand away from you and then back again.
Then the right hand,
Push it outward and return it back.
Keep alternating hands and feel each hand as it moves away from and back towards the heart,
Noticing any differences between resistance and ease as they move.
You are trying to feel your way into this decision,
The left or the right,
This choice or the other.
Keep your hands still now and replace the word or with and.
This choice on my left and this choice on my right.
Push both hands outward at the same time and bring them back together.
What integrates?
What comes from this space of union?
Place both palms over your heart now,
Joining them,
Unifying them together.
Take a deep breath into these hands and this heart,
Binding them together with your breath.
Merge your roads,
Your choices,
Your separateness into one loving space.
And open your eyes when you are ready.
And softens the energy we create around hard choices,
Giving us ways to create a third path down the center.
This road will always be the wiser choice,
Because it will truly be our own.
We are often curtailed into choosing one thing or another,
Because we have been taught that life is binary and exclusive.
We need certain things or we won't be happy.
We have to have or achieve certain things or we won't be fulfilled.
But we can have,
Achieve and be nothing and be deeply at peace within ourselves when we realize every opportunity,
Every choice is a collaborative effort with many other inclusive and cooperating elements.
Or often comes from the idea that we have to change our environment in order to be happy,
Whereas and comes from the flexibility to change a part of our perspective too.
We need both a nourishing environment,
Job partner and a healthy perspective.
We need to both forge ourselves a wild enough road to walk upon,
As well as an awareness of how we are walking that path in order to be at ease with ourselves.
After all,
It's not the quality of the road that makes the journey extraordinary.
That's all you.
Thank you for being here with me today.
I hope you are able to take something away with you from this meditation and leave what's not yours to carry.

The solution offered is that one I felt in my hands and that has accompanied my path for quite some time now in different disguises. Not only through coaching but only in form of the „Yes, and…“ of Improv. It came also in finally finding one part of my wholeness in acknowledging and recognizing my being non-binary for my whole life and after having finally found my truth changing my gender officially to reflect who. I am - with 53, 3 yrs ago. That is what might be possible with leaving the binary path. Truly finding who you are apart from any gender.

Very interesting perspective. I’ve grappled between what seem like opposing options, yet the blending may be what brings cohesion and fulfillment. Thanks for sharing this 🙏🦋💜

Very useful practice and reframing using the word ‘and’. Amazing how that can shift everything. Thank you so much.
