Welcome to the root chakra meditation.

For this meditation,

It is suggested that you kneel down with your knees and feet together.

If you need to,

You can put a pillow or a cushion in between your legs.

Or you can sit down with a straight spine.

If you can,

Put your feet flat on the ground.

The root chakra is connected with the earth.

So,

We are focusing on grounding ourselves throughout this meditation.

Feel your body as it connects with the supporting ground underneath of you.

Become aware of the pull of gravity and the effects that it has on your body.

Rest your hands on your thighs with your palms facing up.

Press the tips of your ring finger and your thumb on each hand.

Just allow the other fingers to relax.

This is a hand position or mudra known as the earth mudra.

Allow your weight to sink into this earthly plane for the duration of this meditation.

As we focus more on our breath,

Take three nice deep breaths in and out.

Count to five as you inhale.

Take a moment to pause and hold it.

And then release your breath,

Counting to five.

Again,

Breathe in for five seconds.

Hold it,

And then exhale for five seconds.

And one more time,

Breathe in,

Counting to five.

Holding it,

Notice that break in between each breath.

And then exhale for five seconds.

Now,

As we are grounded,

Begin to visualize yourself as a seed.

Imagine the earth around you.

Imagine that your feet are growing down like strong roots into the earth,

Embracing the powerful energy of the root chakra.

You may even visualize red energy surrounding you as your body sprouts from the seed and becomes a big,

Beautiful tree.

Keep your spine nice and straight.

You may feel the tingle of your root chakra in your tailbone as you use your energy to really push into the ground to create that firm foundation as your roots continue to spread down into the earth.

As your roots grow,

You may also allow any unwanted energy to leave this chakra.

Feel any stress,

Aches,

Or pains drain down your roots out of your body,

Being healed by Mother Earth.

Draw vital earthly energy up through your body for nourishment,

Just as the trees do.

Now,

Repeat these affirmations out loud or in your mind.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I am nourished by the energy of the earth.

It supports me with strength.

My body supports me with strength.

I am strong,

Grounded,

And focused.

I am strong,

Grounded,

And focused.

As you complete these affirmations,

Visualize yourself as that tree continuing to grow nice and strong.

Now,

Become more mindful of your breaths as we begin to come back into the physical body,

Releasing any unwanted energies through the roots.

Begin to wiggle your toes and fingers to wake up in this physical realm.

Imagine those roots coming back up into your body.

Imagine your awareness returning to your physical senses.

Now,

You feel more grounded and ready to embrace the day.

You may feel tingling throughout your root chakra following this meditation.

Repeat this as necessary,

Or you can continue with the rest of this series of chakra meditations whenever you are ready.
