Everybody,
Mental fitness exercise today is learning how to have a mental massage meditation.
Doesn't it feel really nice to receive a massage?
And how do you feel after that massage?
I know my body feels rejuvenated in a physically relaxed state.
And wouldn't it be great to have that same type mental state?
Guess what?
We can.
Okay,
So usually when we want a massage,
We have to go to a spa or rely on someone else to give us that massage.
But in this case,
It's going to be up to you to perform the required mental massage to get our mind rejuvenated,
Focused,
And that relaxed state.
So big up skill,
We're going to become a mental masseuse.
All right.
But before we begin,
I want to encourage everyone to use this meditation as a model to your own practice.
Okay,
Feel free to modify it to your liking,
Your setting,
Your style,
Become your best mental masseuse.
So use this as a model.
So here we go.
I ask that you get into your preferred meditation pose,
Either sitting or lying down to wherever you are comfortable.
And begin with three deep breaths through the belly using your diaphragm.
Hold an exhale longer and controlled than your inhale.
Begin focusing on your body.
Begin a body scan.
Start from your toes.
Slowly paying attention to your physical sensations at each body part.
Work slow.
Pay attention to what your body is telling you at each moment at each location.
Try to give it no more than three seconds of your attention and then move on slowly,
Mindful of each area and the communication you get to continue breathing nice and deep inhales.
Focus with an extended exhale.
Focus on the sensations.
You may feel a muscle twitch here.
Pain over there.
You may feel pleasant in one area over the next.
Just notice and move on to the next.
As you begin to reach the shoulders and neck area,
I want you to work a little slower.
Continue to observe the sensations,
But now don't just stop at the physical sensations.
As you work your way to the head region,
Notice any sensations beyond the physical.
Observe a level within.
Notice any energy or flush feelings.
Open the mind.
As your scan reaches the top of your head,
I want you to imagine an energetic version of your hands.
Invisible to all but yourself.
Feel the energy.
The energy between the hands and your head.
Feel your hair raise a little bit with that energy.
It's a calming and wonderful energy.
You feel its pureness and its purpose.
Your energetic hands are going to take this energy and fuse the fingertips to the inside of your head.
That mental side of your head.
Feel the calming energy gently being massaged inside your head.
As you allow this relaxing sensation,
Keep imagining those fingers of energy massaging your mind.
Feel the energy through the lows.
Just allow the calm,
Relaxed feeling to take over.
Your breathing is long and relaxed.
As you become more mentally relaxed,
Allowing the fingers to work their magic,
Just focus on the massage,
The pressure,
The release of pressure.
Picture the energy from the fingertips emitting a light.
A light which brightens the mind in a cleansing energy.
Calming,
Confident,
Promising light.
Feeling your head space.
And then see it,
Feel it,
Slowly making its way down through your entire body.
Feel the complete relaxation now,
Physically and mentally.
The fingers still pulsating the energy through our lobes.
Think of a pleasant scent of oil you may like,
Eucalyptus maybe.
Allow for that scent to fill your head as you release the hands from massaging.
Let the scent be your bridge back from mental focus,
Back to a balanced mental,
Physical being.
Slowly cross it at your own pace and become aware of your surroundings.
Notice your increase of focus and motivation.
As you come back,
Observe how light you feel mentally.
Take advantage of this moment of focus.
Direct your attention to something that needs your attention.
Look at it differently this time.
You've reset.
You're operating at peak performance.
Now go get them.
