With your eyes open or closed,
Imagine or remember looking out over a lake.
The water is rough with waves.
Look at the shoreline,
At the rocks,
The sand,
Any plants.
Notice or remember if you could feel a breeze blowing across your face,
Just taking your time.
Notice what you are standing on.
The waves are quite large and the sky is dark and grey.
Now take in a long,
Gentle inhale,
Followed by a slow,
Even exhale.
Just doing your best.
Again a long,
Gentle inhale,
Followed by a slow,
Even exhale.
With every exhale you will notice the waves become more calm.
It will not be in the first exhale or the second.
But over several slow breaths,
You are able to slowly and calmly settle the water with each exhale.
Just taking your time as you are listening and watching the waves begin to still.
The rising of your inhale.
The softening with every exhale.
The rising of your inhale.
The softening with every exhale.
The waves are becoming much more calm.
You are calming the waves with each exhale until the water becomes very smooth,
Very still,
Very calm.
Very smooth and very still.
When the waters are calm,
Take in one more slow,
Gentle inhale.
And as you exhale,
Bring it down,
Connecting your feet firmly into the earth,
Like rounding rods.
And again,
Taking in one more slow,
Gentle inhale.
And as you exhale,
Bringing it down,
Connecting your feet firmly into the earth.
And then bring your awareness slowly back to the space you are in.
Just wiggle your fingers a little.
Wiggle your toes.
Bring small movements to your shoulders,
Bringing with you this peace and calm from this moment.
