Welcome to the sleep soother sessions.
Soothing sounds from nature,
Gentle words and time to breathe.
As you settle into your place of rest and close your eyes,
Know that you are safe and that we all journey to sleep and rest in our own time.
There is no hurry in this place.
As we journey through each day,
Our thoughts and our energy,
Our time is pulled in a hundred different directions,
A hundred golden threads.
Here,
As we prepare for sleep,
We let those threads gently break.
As we call our awareness,
Our energy back home to us.
And as we lay in our restful place,
Perhaps in our mind's eye,
We visualise resting beside a sun-dappled stream.
The air is warm and sunbeams fall in scattered light through green leaves and gently swaying branches.
You hear the sound of gentle waters flowing beside you,
Around you,
And your whole body can relax in this place,
Surrounded with every sense enjoying this place of nature.
The sounds of water,
The scent,
Perhaps,
Of moss,
Of sunshine shining on green plants,
Of earth and of fresh forest air.
You feel,
Perhaps,
The warmth of the sun or the feeling of soft grass or springy moss around you.
A sense of contentment,
A sense of safety held within nature,
Holding you here gently,
Easefully,
With no sense of rush or hurry.
You feel a wave of calm move through you,
Starting,
Perhaps,
At your toes and feet and ankles as they sink and soften into their restful place,
Softening through legs and knees and kneecaps.
You relax your hips,
Easeful and calm,
And the tummy and chest are light as they gently rise and fall with the rhythms of the breath and the heartbeat,
The shoulders and the muscles that run down your back.
Relax,
Release,
No longer holding any weight from the day.
The arm,
Elbows,
Wrists and hands soften and settle all the way to the tips of your fingers.
You relax finally through your neck,
Releasing the jaw and letting all the little muscles of the face and head relax.
From the tips of your toes to the top of your head,
You feel relaxed.
You feel softened from your day,
Releasing the ties of attention,
Ties of energy,
Drawing it all back home to this place of body and breath,
In this beautiful place of nature.
As we find ourselves nearing the end of these spoken words,
There is nothing you have to do.
I will let the sounds gently play for a little longer,
And I hope that you find yourself drifting on a gentle stream of sleep and calm.
May your rest be rich and your dreams joyful,
And I hope tomorrow the sun shines upon you.
Farewell for now,
Dear one.
I will leave you now and let you sleep.
