Creating a mindful moment with your pet,
Child,
Or if you have neither,
A blanket,
Which is what I use,
Is a lovely everyday mindfulness technique.
What we're doing is we're actually connecting to that pet,
To that child,
To the blanket using all of our senses.
So imagine you've got a cat and they're sat on your lap and you're stroking them.
What can you see on them?
What can you feel?
How soft is their fur?
What about the weight on your legs where they're sat?
What can you hear?
Are they purring,
Meowing?
What can you smell?
Can you smell the scent of them?
Do they have a particular heartwarming scent?
Just allow yourself to connect in that moment and enjoy the embrace of your pet or your child or your blanket,
Right?
Just connect deeply with them.
This is a lovely,
Lovely technique if you're a parent,
Even if your child's running around and they're not sat on your lap,
Just just explore that moment.
Be present with them.
Listen to their laughter.
Witness their movements,
Right?
Feel their touch when they come over and hand you something,
Right?
It doesn't have to be necessarily sitting still.
Remember,
Everyday mindfulness needs to fit in with your life,
Not make you carve out time to sit still for 20 minutes,
An hour,
If only we all could.
So next time you feel you can and you want to have a little bit of a present moment,
Create a mindful moment with your pet or child or your blanket if you're like me and see how it makes you feel.
