Welcome to this simple everyday mindfulness technique called Alphabet Affirmations.
I really like this one as it gives us a moment to just connect in with who we are,
What we feel and what's going on with us in the moment.
So get yourself comfortable.
You can do this sitting,
Standing or lying down.
I often recommend doing this one standing but you know you best.
So check in with your body and what you need and get yourself into a comfortable position.
Closing down the eyes if that feels safe right now and allowing yourself to start noticing your breath.
Just watching it move in and out of the body.
We don't need to change or adapt.
And then for today's guided session I'm going to use the word love.
L-O-V-E for our affirmations but remember you can do this with all 26 letters starting from A and working to Z or you can pick your own word,
One that feels resourcing for you in the moment.
But to begin let's start to consider words that begin with the letter L.
Loving,
Lovable,
Learning.
And when you find one that really resonates with you today,
Turn it into an affirmation,
Turn it into an I am statement.
So I am learning,
I am loving.
I am loving.
And repeat whichever one lands with you of all of the words that come up a few times.
Moving yourself gently onto words beginning with the letter O.
I am optimistic,
I am open,
Just explore any words that come up for you,
Finding one that feels true.
And as your mind goes off and wants to tell you stories about the words,
Know that that's normal,
Know that that's okay.
We just bring it back to the letter O and we find some words and we create our affirmations.
Moving gently onto V.
I am vibrant.
I am vital.
I am full of vitality.
And I want to encourage you not to worry about only finding positive words.
Sometimes we know that something feels sticky and uncomfortable and we try to avoid it,
But this isn't the time.
If a word comes up that feels more challenging,
Note that that's okay and note that that is your body communicating with you,
So you can now do something about it.
And when you're ready,
Take yourself onto the letter E.
I am evolving,
I am excited for.
Just play around with words,
Find the ones that resonate with you and turn it into an affirmation for right here,
Right now.
And finally,
Just allow yourself to come up with any words or affirmations that just want space today.
They can begin with any letter you like.
Beautiful.
Well done.
Now slowly start to bring some movement back into the body,
Opening your eyes when you feel ready,
Wiggling your fingers and toes,
And gently bringing yourself back into your space.
