This is my reading of my poem You Don't Need Healing an ode to how necessary human touch is for our wellbeing.

I write poetry to make sense of, express, and capture how I feel, in any given experience, as I make my way through this life.

Some of the things I experience in life can be very hard to logically explain, but poetry doesn't need, and has never needed, to be logical.

What my poetry means to me may be very different to what it means to you. Such is the beauty of art.

I hope it touches you, in the way you need to be touched, in this very moment.

You don't need healing. You need holding. A deep longing for touch. A primal need. Starvation leads to stagnation and we wither and die. You don't need healing. You need holding.
