Hello dear ones,
And welcome to today's bedtime story.
A short story that I wrote called The Magical Moon Veil.
So just taking a few moments to get comfortable in your bed.
Allowing yourself to take some big,
Big stretches.
Making each breath longer and deeper than the previous one.
Snuggling down into your duvet or your blanket.
Knowing that it's time for you to rest now.
There is nothing more that you need to do.
There is nowhere that you need to be.
Just here,
Getting ready for bed with this delightful bedtime story.
And when you're ready,
We shall begin.
In a distant land,
Hidden deep within a misty valley.
There stood an enchanted castle called Moon Veil Academy.
Its towers spiraled up to the sky.
Each one glowing softly under the light of the moon.
This academy was home to young witches and wizards.
Who came from all over the world to learn the art of magic.
Every year,
A group of new students would arrive at the castle gates.
On this particular evening,
A gentle autumn breeze carried the fallen leaves across the cobblestone path.
Leading to the great oak doors.
Among the group of newcomers were three friends.
Ella,
A curious witch with a knack for potions.
Theo,
A shy but brilliant wizard who loved books.
And Mira,
A bold girl with an untamed gift for wind magic.
The headmistress,
Madame Charlotte,
Greeted them with a kind smile.
Her silver hair shimmered in the torchlight.
And her deep blue robes seemed to hold the stars themselves.
Welcome to Moon Veil Academy,
She said.
This will be your home for many magical adventures.
The trio's first night was filled with wonder.
Their dormitory beds had velvet covers that changed colours depending on their mood.
Enchanted candles that never melted.
And windows that showed different landscapes at will.
Excited whispers filled the air until one by one they all drifted off to sleep.
The next morning classes began.
First was charms with Professor Lumen,
A cheerful wizard with a bushy beard and eyes that sparkled with mischief.
Today we will learn the spell for levitation,
He announced.
Repeat after me.
Upti leviti.
Upti leviti.
Ella managed to make her feather float gracefully on her first try.
Theo's feather shot up and stuck to the ceiling.
And Mira's feather created a tiny whirlwind that sent papers flying across the room.
Professor Lumen clapped his hands.
Excellent!
Excellent!
Magic should be lively.
In potion craft,
Professor Belladonna taught them how to brew dream dust.
A sparkling powder that could help bring peaceful sleep.
Ella's cauldron bubbled with golden hues.
And the aroma of lavender filled the air.
Perfect,
Miss Ella,
Professor Belladonna said approvingly.
As the weeks passed,
The friends grew closer.
They explored Moonveil's endless hallways,
Discovered secret passages,
And shared dreams of mastering their magical gifts.
But one chilly evening,
As they sat near the grand fireplace in the common room,
A mysterious message appeared on the wall,
Written in shimmering silver letters.
Beware the shadow moon.
What does that mean?
Theo asked nervously.
It's an old legend.
It's an old legend,
Said an older student named Finn.
The shadow moon only appears once every hundred years.
It is said to bring chaos to Moonveil,
If not properly guarded against.
That night,
The sky grew darker than ever.
The moon,
Usually bright and full,
Was veiled by thick clouds.
A chilling wind howled through the castle corridors.
At midnight,
Ella,
Theo and Mira were awoken by a strange noise.
A soft,
Distant hum echoed through the halls.
We should investigate,
Mira whispered.
They tiptoed past sleeping portraits and enchanted suits of armor until they reached the central courtyard.
There,
Under the faint moonlight,
Stood a dark figure cloaked in shadow.
Its eyes glowed with an eerie red light.
You must not be here,
It said in a voice like the rustling of dead leaves.
Ella summoned her courage.
We are students of Moonveil Academy,
And we are here to protect our home.
The figure raised its hand,
And the air grew colder.
But before it could cast a spell,
Theo stepped forward with a book he had carried from the library.
There is a counterspell for the shadow moon,
He said.
We just need to combine all of our magic.
Ella quickly prepared a potion of light.
Mira called upon the winds to gather strength,
And Theo recited the ancient incantation.
Together,
Their magic formed a brilliant golden barrier that surrounded the shadowy figure.
With a final burst of energy,
The shadow dissolved,
Leaving behind only a single black feather.
Madam arrived just as dawn broke.
Her eyes shone with pride.
You three have shown great bravery and unity tonight.
Moonveil is safe once again,
Thanks to you.
From that day on,
Ella,
Theo,
And Mira were known as the protectors of Moonveil.
Their story was told to every new student who entered the academy.
A reminder that even in the darkest of nights,
Friendship and courage could light the way.
And so,
As the castle lights dimmed,
And the moon returned to its silver glow,
The young witches and wizards of Moonveil Academy fell asleep,
Dreaming of their own magical adventures to come.
