In certain spiritual practices, a spirit animal refers to a spirit or energy which assists, guides, or protects a person in their journey and whose characteristics are shared and embodied by the practitioner. During this practice, we take the time to slow down, focus on our breath, and welcome in the animal spirits of this world to guide us. Remember your breath, check your energy, and remember your divine wolf pack.

Transcript

Meeting a sacred spirit animal,

A guided meditation.

You can do this meditation either in a seated position or laying down.

Maybe you lay down on your yoga mat,

A couple blankets.

You can either lay on the couch or even your bed.

But just find a position that you can find rest and relaxation.

But not too much.

We don't want you to fall asleep.

Go ahead,

Take the time and get yourself set up.

Start to find yourself settling down in this position,

Known as Savasana.

Making any final movements until you find yourself settling and surrendering to gravity.

In and out just to focus on the breath,

Leaving the body by itself,

Breathing in and out through the nose.

This breath should be nice and gentle and should be at a rhythmic pace that you can maintain throughout the rest of the meditation.

Begin to visualize at your feet a blanket of light that is warm and familiar.

You start to notice that the blanket's light has a special color to it.

What color is the blanket of light?

This blanket brings with it a sense of love and light,

Followed by comfort and relaxation.

Imagine that you reach down and you begin to pull this love and light blanket slowly over your body.

Feel the blanket begin to move over the toes and feet,

Relaxing them.

Feel it move over your lower legs,

Knees,

And upper thighs,

Relaxing them.

Continue to pull the blanket over the hips and abdomen,

Bringing with it its comfort and relaxation.

The blanket continues its journey over the stomach,

Removing all tension and stress from the day.

Over your chest,

Bringing with it a sense of lightness.

With every inhale and every exhale,

Find yourself becoming more and more relaxed,

Finding a sense of peace.

Breathing deeply in,

Deeply out.

Now continue to draw the blanket over your arms,

Letting them relax.

Relaxing the arms.

Letting them relax.

As you move the rest of the blanket over the shoulders and neck,

They relax.

Continue relaxing and from the neck down,

Comforted by warm light.

The blanket begins to form a hood that covers your head with just a light touch.

And now your face from the tip of the nose to the back of the head completely relaxes.

Now you are wrapped in the blanket of light and the colors of the lights begin to seep into our mind,

Body,

And soul.

You continue to relax deeper.

Bringing all of your attention and all of your awareness to the mind movie screen just behind your forehead.

The place when you close your eyes to imagine.

And see yourself now walking down a naturally lit path.

Somewhere outside in nature.

This could be a place that you have visited before or some place completely new.

Continue to walk down the path slowly and begin to look around and notice what surrounds the path.

Maybe it's rocks.

Many different types of stones.

Plants.

Flowers.

Sand.

Maybe even water.

Try to notice everything along this beautiful path.

You look up ahead and notice a clearing.

And as you step into the clearing a wide open space appears.

You continue to walk to that very center and reach your arms out and spin around in the very center for a moment.

Reaching your arms out and spinning faster and faster until you begin to finally slow down.

Slower.

Slower.

Until it's just a light spin back to the center.

You come to stand in stillness slowly now until you're completely still in the center of your space.

Begin to imagine now every animal known to yourself slowly beginning to enter the clearing one by one.

Slowly the animals begin to form a circle around the clearing around you.

Begin to listen to any sounds the animals might make for any particular smells that they happen to join the circle.

As they form the circle a sense of relaxation and calm spreads through the body as if these animals are here to protect you and bring with them universal knowledge that already resides within you.

You feel safe and comforted.

Each of the animals in the circle has something wise to share with you and you become inquisitive about each one.

You feel that one of the animals has something important to tell you and something special for you to take away with you.

You begin to turn slowly around in the circle seeing each animal in the circle clearly now.

You call out who will come forward.

Pause now and watch what happens.

An animal has joined you in the center of the clearing and you bow towards the animal and welcome it to the center of your circle.

Be open to its energy.

Be open to its wisdom.

And now is the time to ask the animal its name.

Ask the animal its true name and what sacred wisdom it has to share with you today.

Speak and listen with your animal guide.

Be receptive to anything it wants to say to you or do with you.

Begin to finish your conversation with your animal guide.

But before you close out,

Ask your guide one more request.

Ask your guide to touch a part of your physical body and simply see what area the guide touches.

Ask your guide one more time if they have anything else to bestow or leave us with.

Watch to see what the guide hands you.

Find a special way now to say thank you and goodbye to your animal guide.

Then bow to each of the animals in the circle that came to surround you.

Then when you are ready and only when you are ready,

Begin to step out of the circle,

Back onto the well-lit path.

Continue to walk the path until you have found yourself resting on the floor or wherever you are currently.

Continue to let yourself deepen your awareness of the place and space you are in.

Bring yourself back,

Your breath deeply breathing in and out of the nostrils.

Feel your stomach rising and falling with each breath and begin to fill your body again.

Your feet,

Legs,

Torso,

Chest,

Arms,

And head.

You can gently begin to wiggle your fingers and toes and then take some circles with the wrists and ankles.

And then once you are fully ready,

You can go ahead and pull the knees into the chest and sit on up.

And once again,

I thank you for taking the time to practice.

Loved the blanket of light pulled up my body. Not sure if I was sleeping, dreaming, or in trance state but I felt myself suddenly 'wake up', sound stopped and I felt myself moving quickly through a tube-like space, rushing back to my body consciousness. And here I am.
