As parents, we have the tendency to worry... a LOT! I've had nagging worries about my kids, family, and work many times and have learned this great visual strategy for handling this stress. It allows me to be more present with my loved ones and more able to handle the challenges of everyday life with grace and patience. I hope this helps you as much as it has me! Namaste!

Hey,

This is Ryan.

Welcome to your daily dose of calm,

Peace,

And relaxation.

Today we are going to focus on something that all of us parents are dealing with,

Which is worry and anxiety.

So find a comfy spot to sit or lay down.

Shift your body around till you feel just right.

I invite you to close your eyes.

Let's take a couple of slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And when you inhale you can picture your breath going all the way down to your feet,

Just filling your entire body with a nice warm relaxed feeling.

And start to notice that space between your inhale and your exhale.

It's a really special moment of stillness.

It can be a really nice calming thing to focus on.

Invite you now to picture yourself walking into your bedroom at home.

It's in the middle of the day and you are alone and enjoying the quiet and stillness of an empty house.

As you take a look around the room you notice a big wooden box with metal hinges on the lid and there's a lock on it.

This is a place that whenever you have a nagging worry or concern you can put that worry into this box and keep it there until the time is right to deal with it.

Let's practice this right now.

Start by thinking about a worry of yours.

You know it could be about your kids or your family or something else.

Form a picture in your mind of this worry.

Now visualize yourself opening the box and putting the worry in,

Closing the lid and locking it up.

As you do this you take a deep breath and feel the weight off of your shoulders knowing that until the time is right to address or talk about this worry you can find some much-needed peace and rest.

You know because it's exhausting having worries that stay on your mind all day and into the night and it certainly takes you out of the present moment and makes it more challenging to be your best with your family.

This is a great way to free your thoughts and energy until the time is right to address a concern.

We're not trying to avoid dealing with a worry or concern we're just taking a step so that we don't go in circles thinking about it over and over.

And if that worry keeps popping back in your mind you're no big deal it's totally natural just keep putting it back in that box.

Please practice this strategy and allow it to bring you some peace and freedom because we could all use some more of that.

So just enjoy this calm feeling and the relaxing music for a little bit longer.

Well my friends we'll say goodbye for now so as the music slowly fades out start to bring your attention back into the room.

You can wiggle your fingers and toes,

Rub your hands together,

Slowly open your eyes whenever you're ready.

And remember at any point during the day worries pop up again take a deep breath visualize that box and put those worries inside.

Just let them go until the time is right to deal with them and enjoy the peace and the freedom that this brings.

Be well.
