Welcome to this meditation for ancestral healing by Bert Hellinger.

Begin by finding a quiet,

Comfortable place where you can relax undisturbed.

Settle into a position that allows your spine to be straight and feel free to lean against a wall or chair using a pillow behind your back for added support.

When you're ready,

Gently close your eyes.

Roll your shoulders up,

Then let them drop down and back.

Place your hands on your lap or knees with palms facing upward.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale softly,

Allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment.

Relax your shoulders,

Let your face soften.

Take another deep breath in and as you exhale through your mouth,

Let the weight of your body sink down into the earth.

Feel its support and grounding.

Continue breathing slowly and deeply through your nose,

Allowing each out-breath to bring you deeper into relaxation,

Releasing any lingering tension.

Now,

Visualize your parents standing in front of you.

Your father on the right,

Your mother on the left.

Behind them,

See their parents.

And behind your grandparents,

See your great-grandparents.

We will stop here for now,

Though if you feel connected to someone from earlier generations,

Someone who may have carried a difficult destiny,

Bring them forward as well,

No matter how far back they may be.

Our conscience often drives us to try and compensate for losses in previous generations.

Our loyalty binds us to belong by mirroring similar fates.

So,

Look at your ancestors and see them greater than yourself,

Bigger.

All who came before us are greater than we are.

So,

Imagine them standing slightly elevated above you while you remain as the child.

See their faces,

Their destinies and any potential sacrifices they may have made.

If anyone suffered,

Include even those who may have caused harm,

Whether or not they are part of your family.

For instance,

If land was taken or they were involved in war,

Imprisoned or any other hardship,

Include all those who played a role in shaping the destiny of your family system.

What brings healing is when we can reconcile those who were in conflict and when we can see them all.

And now feel in your body who you are standing beside,

To whom you are keeping company,

Whom among your ancestors draws you the most,

And trust your intuition.

Whom are you following?

To whom are you loyal?

Is there anyone who comes to mind now?

If not,

Simply look toward your ancestors and those who may have influenced their fate.

And you can say to them,

You are big.

I am the small one.

I took this from you or from all of you out of love.

But now I return it with love.

This belongs to your life.

This loss or gain,

Guilt,

This burden,

They all belong to you.

And I leave them with you.

I am sorry that I couldn't help you.

It is beyond my power.

Now I leave you to your destiny and to the higher power.

And I make space in my heart also for those who may have caused you harm or those who may have suffered because of you.

Through you life has reached me.

I accept it and I honor it.

From this moment on,

I dedicate my happiness and abundance to all of you so that your sacrifice and suffering were not in vain.

Take a deep breath in and sigh it out slowly.

Notice how these words feel inside you.

See if you can bow down to the individuals you see or even to all your ancestors.

You bow down and symbolically return a burden to them.

It may not be clear exactly what this is.

And if you don't know,

Imagine setting down a burden of misfortune,

Suffering,

Failure or pain.

Whatever you feel you've been carrying as an obstacle,

Whether in success,

Relationships or any other area of your life,

You symbolically set it before your ancestors.

Return the burden with love.

And you can say to them,

Please bless me if I allow myself to have more,

To live a happier life,

To be more successful.

Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.

Look at each one of these people and see if you have truly managed to leave the burden with them.

You can see also those who may have suffered or those from whom your ancestors may have suffered.

Make space in your heart for them as well,

For those responsible for losses or connected to them.

To open our heart is to let go of judgment within.

Breathe in and slowly breathe out.

And look again at all of them and say,

I am proof that each of you succeeded,

So I too will succeed.

And see if you can turn your back toward them now,

Feeling the support and strength of your ancestors standing behind you.

Take a deep breath in and breathe out slowly through your mouth.

Stay in this moment,

Feeling the support of all those who came before you.

These people injured far greater hardships.

Some lived through wars,

Others faced disasters,

Losses,

And many other challenges.

And they did it with the resources life provided them with.

We honor their destinies with respect.

Feel this life force,

This flow of life reaching you through all who came before you with gratitude.

And now look forward toward life itself as you imagine it,

Toward the continuation.

If you have a partner and children,

See them before you.

Slowly take a few steps toward success,

Life,

Happiness.

Feeling the support and strength coming from your ancestors and all the resources you carry thanks to them.

Take a deep breath in and slowly breathe out.

Take in the life energy and flow that comes from life itself.

Breathe in once more and breathe out.

Remember this feeling and hold on to it.

And gradually bring your awareness back to your body,

To your surroundings.

Take a deep breath in and exhale,

Grounding back into the present moment.

When you feel ready,

You may open your eyes.
