Welcome to this meditation for letting go of a past partner with peace.
This is a transformative guided inner movement by Bert Hellinger and his profound work in Family Constellations.
Through this practice you will experience a deep inner shift and healing.
Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably without any distractions.
Today we will journey beneath any anger or blame to gently uncover and process the deeper pain and grief that often lies at the heart of losing a relationship.
Together we will acknowledge that our former partners were the right ones for us,
Just as they were.
Now let's begin.
You can sit with your spine straight and supported.
If needed,
Place a cushion behind your back for extra comfort.
Gently roll your shoulders up,
Back and down.
You can rest your hands on your lap or your knees with your palms facing upward.
When you're ready,
Gently close your eyes.
And turn your attention inward.
Begin by taking a deep breath in through your nose.
And slowly exhale,
Arriving fully in this present moment.
Take another deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Feel your facial muscles soften and relax.
Every inhale energizes the body.
And every exhale brings relaxation.
Simply observe this phenomenon.
And you can gently return to your natural breathing rhythm.
Now imagine your former partner standing in front of you.
Perhaps it is someone with whom you didn't fully resolve the relationship.
Take a moment to sense the distance that feels right for you to stand apart.
Enough so that you don't feel overwhelmed but can still calmly look at this person.
Notice how you feel.
And what is happening in your body at this moment.
If you're feeling emotional or tears come to your eyes,
Allow them to flow freely.
Give yourself permission to feel everything.
And look at the space between you.
What remains unresolved?
What still exists between you?
And how does this partner look at you in your imagination?
Now see if you feel any difficulty in speaking these words.
If it feels challenging,
Don't worry.
This is a process and it takes time.
You can revisit this exercise as often as you need.
When you're ready,
Look at your partner and say Thank you for everything you brought into my life.
And for the time we spent together.
Everything between us is now over.
I honor the force that brought us together.
And the one that separated us.
I leave the responsibility for your part with you.
And I take responsibility for my part.
You gave.
And I gave.
I will keep the good we shared in my heart.
And for the things I complain about.
I will turn inward to learn more about myself.
Rather than blaming you.
Now take a moment to see what you need to return to this person or leave in the past.
Perhaps anger,
Resentment or anything else.
And you say,
I return to you this anger.
Suffering.
Resentment.
I return these things to you.
Or I leave them in the past.
It could be one thing.
Or several things.
Or a general sense of all that no longer belongs to you.
Any unresolved feelings from the relationship.
And now you reflect on what you wish to reclaim.
To take back for yourself.
And you say,
And I take back for myself.
Maybe my faith in love.
My innocence.
My self-worth.
Whatever it is that you are reclaiming.
You say,
I take it back for myself.
I reclaim my joy,
My faith and my trust.
Take a deep breath in.
And slowly exhale.
Then say,
I leave you to your faith and the greater force.
I release you from my entire being.
Now if you have children with this person,
Recognize that you remain connected through them.
But as partners,
Everything is now complete.
And finally say one last sentence.
I wish you happiness with someone else.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale side out.
Observe the sensations in your body.
And notice if anything has shifted in how you feel toward this person.
How does this person look at you now in your imagination?
Is there anything you sense from them?
Maybe a word,
A response.
And now see if you can turn your back to them.
You can turn your back to them.
And you look forward.
Toward what lies ahead.
Toward your future.
Welcome the vital energy of life that flows toward you.
And slowly begin to step forward toward the future.
Leaving this image in the past.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale slowly.
Gently bring your awareness back to your body and your surroundings.
Take another deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Allow yourself to come back to the present moment.
When you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing.
