This is a guided visualization exercise to help you tap into your inner mentor and life purpose.
Whenever you're ready,
Settling into a comfortable position,
You may choose to lie on your back,
Sit in a chair,
Or even stand.
Taking three deep breaths in through the nose,
Out through the mouth,
Allowing the breath to return to normal,
And simply noticing the expansion and contraction of the chest as you breathe in and out.
Taking time to just be,
Nothing to do,
Nothing to change,
But just simply be present with what is.
Simply becoming aware of the entire body and the position that you're in.
Starting at the feet and doing a scan of the body,
Noticing the feet,
Ankles,
Knees,
Thighs,
Hips,
Chest,
Shoulders,
Neck and head.
Noticing any tension or tightness in the body and allowing yourself to just gently relax and sink into.
I want you to imagine that you're about to step into a time machine that's going to transport you 20 years into the future to meet yourself.
You walk outside,
You get into this large metal machine,
You strap yourself in,
Close the doors,
And it gently begins to lift you off the ground.
Little by little,
It beams you up and it's moving you forward in time.
The machine gently drops you off at your house 20 years in the future.
You unstrap yourself,
Open the door,
And step outside,
And you're welcomed by the older version of you.
They greet you,
Give you a hug,
And welcome you for being there.
What do you notice about the outside of the house?
What's the environment and surroundings like?
What kind of house do you live in?
As you take in the view of your new surroundings,
The future you gently guides you down the pathway and introduces you to the inside of the house.
You look around,
Noticing all the furnishings,
The energy of the house.
How do you feel when you step inside?
What are you noticing being around the future version of you?
How do they carry themselves?
What is their energy like?
As you step inside the house,
They gently guide you to the living room where you settle in to talk about how things are going.
They tell you about their current life.
What are you noticing?
Who are they friends with?
What do they care about?
How do they spend their time?
What do they do for fun?
What do they do for play?
How do they take care of themselves?
What does self-care look like?
What do they do for work?
How do they handle things when they're feeling stressed or overwhelmed?
You glance at the clock and notice that your time is starting to come to an end.
The future you starts to walk you once again outside.
You say your goodbyes.
You thank the future you for your time together.
Give each other hugs.
And you once again step back into the time machine.
You strap yourself in,
Close the doors,
And it lifts off bringing you back to the present day.
What do you want to take away from the experience of meeting the future version of you?
What would the future you say about your current circumstances?
What did you learn from meeting them?
What do you want to carry forward and begin to incorporate into your life now?
And when you're ready,
Once again taking three deep breaths in through your nose,
Out through your mouth,
Allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm and flow.
Once again becoming aware of the entire body,
Noticing any tension or tightness.
And when you're ready,
Starting to open the eyes,
Wiggling the fingers,
The toes,
Taking a look around your room,
The surroundings,
Thanking yourself for taking some time today on this exercise,
And knowing that you can always return to your inner mentor.
It's a powerful way to tap into your current wisdom,
Who you are now,
And help you navigate any personal or professional decisions that you might have to make.
This energy is always available to you.
Namaste.
