A somatic journey through loving the ‘unloveable’ parts of you, in a gently-guided, nuanced movement meditation. The intention is to help you release negative self-talk, self-criticism, and harmful narratives that get stuck in the body while opening space for compassionate self-acceptance. You’ll move towards greater freedom of flow, and a felt sense of empowerment. Listen to your body. Explore this subtle practice standing, sitting, or lying down.

Beloved,

Welcome to self love,

All of me.

A guided embodiment practice to help you begin to offer loving awareness to the unlovable aspects of you,

Calling in a more integrated body,

Mind,

Heart.

And so for this practice,

You're welcome to start standing,

Seated,

Or lying down,

Trusting your inner intuition as to what's appropriate for your energy levels,

For your body in this moment and your nervous system.

And from this place,

You're going to begin to start shaking,

A most subtle shake.

If you're standing,

You might find a spring in your knees and let the shoulders lift and drop and begin to shake.

If you're seated,

Maybe it's a shaking and a swaying side to side.

Maybe it's lifting your arms up in the air and giving your wrists and fingers a good flick.

If you're lying down,

Maybe you lift your arms and legs up and shake them,

Or maybe whole body is just shaking and writhing on the floor.

Start as subtly as you desire.

Let it become as vigorous as it feels right.

Letting this be intuitive,

Shaking the parts that are asking you to shake and move.

Maybe the breath is audible and you allow the exhale to move whatever needs to be moved.

Continuing for a few more breaths,

Really allowing the whole body to find movement,

To allow energy to flow,

To let tension start to melt away so we can come into a place of embodied presence.

A few more moments here.

And then coming to a place of relative stillness,

Slowing the shaking down.

Maybe there's still a gentle sway and that's okay.

In this moment of embodied awareness,

Feeling what flows through,

Perhaps closing your eyes and going deep within.

I invite you to go to a part of your body that you feel is unlovable.

A part of your body that you've always berated,

Blamed and shamed or never thought was good enough.

Maybe it's an old injury that you feel frustrated or limited by.

Maybe it's a part of your body that you feel is not aesthetically pleasing according to what we see in the media today.

Maybe it's a part of your body where there is a lack of connection,

A part of your body you've never actually really allowed yourself to see or feel or connect to.

Take your time.

When you go to this part of the body,

I invite you to notice how you talk to this part of the body.

What sort of feelings or words arise?

It's important to notice how you talk to this part of your body.

Maybe you've been talking a certain way,

Telling a certain story to this part of your body for a long time.

In the background,

On repeat.

And then I want you to either bring your hands to this part of your body or bring your awareness to this part of your body and allow it to start to move organically.

So whatever this part of your body that you've highlighted in your awareness as less than lovable,

Allow it to move and express itself in its own way.

And as you do,

Notice if any judgment comes up.

Notice the stories that arise.

Notice the feelings that arise.

This seemingly unlovable part of you,

Beginning to integrate it into the wholeness that is you by allowing it to move and express itself.

By allowing it to be seen and felt by you totally,

Wholly.

And then whatever stories arise about this part of your body,

Maybe it's a story of I'm not good enough.

I'm limited.

I'm ugly.

I'm unlovable.

Whatever this story is that is associated with this part of the body that you've isolated,

I want you to get curious.

Keep moving this part of your body.

Keep entering it into your loving awareness and ask yourself,

Is it true?

This story I've been telling myself about this part of me,

Is it true?

Allowing it to continue to move and express itself in your own organic,

Fluid way.

Maybe the movement of this one part of your body cascades through to other parts of your body,

An interconnected dance unfolding.

Maybe this one part of your body that's been held back or unseen or unloved by you starts to direct the movement of your entire body.

If it's a stomach that you feel is not pretty,

Maybe this stomach is swirling in space and guiding your entire body in a movement exploration.

If it's an injured ankle,

Maybe this ankle is finding its own unique movement and the whole body is following this all the way to the tips of your fingers,

The top of your head.

Allow it to continue to direct the movement of your entire body,

Whatever unfolds,

And continue to ask yourself about this seemingly unlovable part.

Is it true?

Is it true?

Let it continue to show you its expression.

Let it continue to be seen,

Heard,

Felt,

Integrated into the wholeness that is you.

Maybe as the rest of your body listens and receives this part of you,

Maybe there is a new understanding.

Maybe there is a new sense of connection,

Even gratitude for this uniqueness,

A celebration of this uniqueness.

As you continue to allow this part of your body to move and be integrated into the wholeness of your moving,

Living being,

Allow these words to resonate through the movement.

I love you.

All parts of you,

Including the parts I have yet to meet and all the parts you hide.

I love you in a way that leaves nothing out.

And though I may stumble and fall,

I am learning.

I love you because you are a reflection of me,

Perfectly imperfect,

And together we are stronger.

I love you even when the future is uncertain and shit gets all too real because love is the only constant.

I love you because I am you and you are me.

Together we are we.

Thank you for your practice,

Integrating all parts of you in the wholeness that is space of love.

This is beautiful. Your voice and your pacing are perfect. I connected to something internally in myself for this practice and I feel a shift….a lightness I haven’t felt in a long time. Thank you so much ♥️
