The couple's exercise of appreciation.

This is a pen and paper meditation.

So get that pen and paper ready because we are going to reflect upon four experiences that you've shared together and after each one of these I'm going to give you just over a minute to make some bullet points.

It's a reflective practice or if you like a reflective meditation.

You simply need to write each of the questions down on a piece of paper and of course make sure there's enough room for your answers.

Are you ready?

Question number one.

Recall a time that you've spent together that made you happy.

When you've been aware of sharing happiness together,

What did you do?

We'll take one minute now and if that's not quite enough time you can always press pause.

Question number two.

Recall a time when you were going through a tough patch in your life and your partner supported you.

What did they do?

Taking that moment to reflect and jot down any bullet points.

Taking that one minute now to reflect and jot down those bullet points.

Question number three.

Recall a time when you were going through a tough patch and your partner gave you support.

What did they do?

Taking a minute or so to gently reflect and write those bullet points down.

And our final question.

Question number four.

Reflect upon one thing that your partner has done recently that you are grateful for.

Why are you grateful for this?

Taking that time out now of just over a minute recalling and writing any bullet points.

You might like to complete the following sentence.

I am grateful for you because.

I am grateful for you because.

And now that you're ready you can share your answers with one another and you might like to ask yourself does doing this exercise suggest anything that you would like to resume or do more of?

So has doing this exercise suggested anything that you might like to resume or do more of?

This little exercise the couple's exercise of appreciation has come to an end.
