A sloth is nature’s reminder that not everything needs to be done at nervous-system-dysregulating speed. The Sloth Life is not just about moving slower — it is about moving through life more mindfully. This one-day retreat invites you to slow down your inner and outer world, reconnect with nature, and explore what it means to live with more calm, presence, and awareness. The experience is suitable for most people, however there will be a gentle focus on navigating anxiety, stress and nervous system tension. Inspired by the symbolism of the sloth, this day is not about doing less for the sake of it. It is about changing how we move through life. Even when life feels busy or overwhelming, we can learn to meet it with more grounded-ness and inner calm. The Sloth Life is about softening the rush inside, listening to the body, and finding a more grounded rhythm within yourself. Set within the beautiful surroundings of Chester Zoo ('The UK's best Zoo'), with 130 acres and 30,000 adorable animals - we will spend the day mindfully exploring the zoo, tuning into the natural world, and gently reflecting on our own nervous systems and inner landscapes. Alongside time outdoors, we will have a private room for our group where we will practise guided meditation, grounding exercises, and gentle group reflections. The atmosphere will be calm, connected and playful — a nourishing day to pause, breathe, soften, and remember that it is not only what we do, but how we do it, that shapes the way we feel. You will leave with greater awareness and cutting-edge practical tools to bring more of The Sloth Life into your everyday world. Learn to move with intention and discover calm even within the chaotic movement of life. Zoo Entrance & Conservation Support The retreat price includes entrance to Chester Zoo. As Chester Zoo is a conservation charity, your visit helps support their vital conservation work in the UK and around the world. Please note: Chester Zoo is the host venue for this event only. This retreat is independently organised and is not affiliated with or delivered in partnership with Chester Zoo. All images are copyright of Chester Zoo or Felix New

A slothfully slow lunch is included — with a little more than leaves to keep you nourished throughout the day. While The Sloth Life is about mindfulness, grounding, and moving through life with more ease, it is also about enjoying life’s little treats once in a while — as your dietary and health requirements allow. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed with freshly brewed coffee, a selection of teas, fresh fruit juices, freshly baked Danish pastries, and a vibrant fresh fruit platter. Sloths mostly eat leaves (this makes them folivores) - however they also eat fruit to treat themselves! During the morning, there will be another chance to pause and refresh with coffee, tea, and delicious melt-in-your-mouth biscuits. For lunch, we’ll enjoy a relaxed finger buffet with a variety of hot food options, open sandwiches, crispy fries, and a selection of fresh, flavourful salads — giving us time to slow down, connect, and savour the day. In the afternoon, freshly brewed coffee and a selection of teas will be available to keep you refreshed as we ease into the rest of the retreat. Chester Zoo’s catering team can usually accommodate common dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan/plant-based, gluten-free and allergies where possible. Please include any special dietary requirements when booking so I can coordinate with the venue.

Schedule

10:30am – Slow Arrival & Welcome Refreshments In slothful style, ease your way into our private group room, where you’ll be welcomed with freshly brewed coffee, teas, fresh fruit juices, Danish pastries, and a fresh fruit platter. This is a chance to settle in, meet the group, and begin dropping into the slower rhythm of the day. May the sloth-vibes unfold! 11:00am – Opening Circle: Entering The Sloth Life We will begin with a warm welcome, getting to know the group, and an overview of the schedule. Together, we will set the tone for a calm, connected, and mindful day — one where we give ourselves permission to stop rushing and move through the world with more ease. 11:15am – Guided Meditation: Slowing Down From Within A short grounding meditation led by Felix New to help you arrive in your body, soften your nervous system, and shift from inner urgency into presence. After all - the heart of The Sloth Life is: not doing nothing, but doing things with more awareness. 11:30am – Gentle Silent Zoo Wander: Practising Our Inner Sloth We will head out for our first mindful wander through the zoo - in silence. Rather than rushing to see everything, we will practise slowing down, observing, listening, and noticing how nature supports us in becoming more grounded. Discover how even in a business environment, you can be steady and grounded. 12:00pm – Pause: A Gentle Branch Break Let's break the silence (...and the biscuits)! We will return to our private group room for freshly brewed coffee, teas, and melt-in-your-mouth biscuits. This is a moment to sip, breathe, stretch, and let the morning settle. 12:15pm – Talk: The Pillars of The Sloth Life We will explore the core ideas behind The Sloth Life — and how it can be supportive to ease anxiety, stress, nervous system related tension and more. We will of course draw on interesting facts about sloths... to bring it all to life! The Sloth Life is not simply about moving slower, but about relating to life more mindfully. This session introduces the key pillars which include: presence, nervous system awareness, nature connection, parts-work, self-compassion and conserving energy wisely. Allowing us to finding calm even when life is moving quickly. The sloth becomes our playful teacher: reminding us that there is wisdom in moving with intention and not letting the pace of the world decide the pace within us. 12:45pm - Gentle Zoo Wander - Reloaded Let your inner child and inner sloth guide you. Putting into practice what we explored in the talk, this is a time for individual or group wandering - listen to what you need. Go where your curiosity leads you. A chance to gently move your body before lunch, as not just sloths can do with boosting their metabolism a little. 13:30 pm – Slothfully Slow Lunch Meeting back at our room, we indulge in a relaxed finger buffet lunch with a variety of hot food options, open sandwiches, crispy fries, and fresh, flavourful salads. This is a chance to eat mindfully, connect with others, and enjoy the nourishment that food and wonderful company brings. 2:30pm – Mindful Zoo Exploration: Nature as Teacher We will head back into the zoo for a longer mindful exploration, leading up to the highlight of the day - the sloth visit. Bringing the pillars of The Sloth Life with us, to move with intention, staying connected to the body, and letting the natural world become our teacher. Oh - did we mention there are 500+ species to learn from at the zoo?! 3:00 pm – Sloth Visit & Meditation: Meeting with Legends The moment has arrived - we will visit the sloths as one of the highlights of the day. Where possible, this will be timed around guidance from the venue team, when there may be the best chance of seeing them more active. The visit will be a reflective moment to connect with the inspiration behind The Sloth Life. We will also spend some time in silent meditation with the sloths. Who knows, maybe they'll join us! Having recently adopted a sloth at the zoo, we will also see our plaque there! 3:30pm – Slow Sloth Walk & Break We will walk back to our room as slowly as possible, seeing what it's like to be a sloth. You are invited to gently meet any resistance within with care and compassion. 3:50pm - Final Branch Break Freshly brewed coffee and teas will be available as we take a gentle pause before the final part of the day. This is a chance to refresh, breathe, and let the day’s insights land. 4:05 pm – Integration Session: Calm Within Movement In this group exercise, we will explore how to bring The Sloth Life into everyday life. We will look at how to stay connected to yourself even when life is busy, or anxiety strikes. Exploring how to move with more intention, and how to create small moments of calm within ordinary routines. The aim is not to live life at a sloth’s pace all the time, but to discover a steady grounded pace within yourself. 4:20 pm - Group Reflections Share what you took away from the day, what made you think and what you are more aware of/what you would like to work on going forward. 4:40 pm – Closing Meditation & Sloth Life Takeaway Tools A final guided meditation from Felix and reflection to help you gather the insights from the day. You will leave with practical Sloth Life tools to support grounding for anxiety, stress and inner tension. Leave with more nervous system awareness, and a calmer relationship to the pace of life. 5:00pm – Retreat Close The day closes gently, with space for slothful goodbyes, before we slowly make our way back into the world. Please note: This schedule is provisional and may be gently adjusted on the day to support the flow of the group, venue timings, and the best opportunity to visit the sloths.
