Details

Disconnect from technology and the hustle of everyday life with this short immersion of 2 days Weekend Silent Meditation Retreat in Ecuador. Practice A Simple Way of Being If you’re reading this sentence on an internet-enabled device, you have a complicated life. It’s an unavoidable side effect of existing in the modern world. But your mind doesn’t have to follow along and become so complicated that you don’t understand how or why it works. During the retreat, we temporarily simplify our lives, which allows us to observe the resulting simplicity of mind. We make space for useful insights to arise, which guide us down the road. Illuminate the Mind Through Silence Mindfulness meditation is NOT about emptying the mind, it’s about finding a place of stillness where you can observe the true nature of the mind. Our regular lives rarely allow us the time and space to see what is happening within clearly. Still, retreats give us a special opportunity to temporarily disconnect, to reconnect with our true selves. Receive Guidance On Your Journey Join experienced teachers Anna Schlegel and Kolin Purcell from The BELL Center in Ecuador, as they guide you in English through 6 days of immersive silent meditation and movement practices based on the core techniques of Vipassana (mindfulness). Their teachings weave ancient wisdom with modern methods, always to give you practical and effective tools to take home. Connect With The Natural World Live in our new retreat centre surrounded by lush rainforest and overlooking the ocean. With no neighbours visible in any direction, it’s the perfect place for silence and introspection. We will even give you a specific time every day to appreciate nature. Practice each day in our unique bamboo shala, designed exactly for the purpose of silent retreats. Fully protected from the elements, but fully immersed in the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of the natural world.

The BELL Center - Meditation Center in Ecuador Our brand meditation center was built with massive amounts of love specifically for the purpose of immersing you in our unique programs for mindfulness, meditation, movement, yoga, breathwork, surf and more. Beautiful bamboo roofs curve like waves over smooth cool concrete, with every nook and cranny intentionally designed to make you feel at home. The center is located near the cozy coastal town of Ayampe, Ecuador and offers an exceptionally unique environment for a retreat. Our brand new structure is designed to blend into the sights, sounds, and smells of nature all around, where you can wake up and be surrounded by panoramic views of the ocean and rainforest-covered mountains. With no neighbors visible in any direction, it’s the perfect place for silence and introspection. We will even give you specific time every day to appreciate nature. Using natural and organic farming techniques, we also established a bountiful permaculture project to eventually provide freshly grown fruits and vegetables to all our visitors. For this retreat, you’ll be sharing your living space with the other retreat participants, since following the Buddhist tradition we want to encourage simple living in a communal setting. However, the accommodation is a luxury dorm and everyone will have their own bed, as well as space to store belongings and a curtain for privacy.

Schedule

A day at the silent meditation retreat at The BELL Center starts with a silent morning meditation for 1 hour at 6:00am. After that, we offer time for tea. The mindful movement practice begins at 7:45 am. This practice is guided and goes until 9:00 am when breakfast is ready. At 10:00 am, we gather for 1.5 hours of Guided Group Mixed Meditation that is followed by 30 minutes of nature meditation until lunch is served at 12 pm. After lunch, the participants have time to rest until 2:30 pm. The afternoon is kicked off with a Walking Meditation at 2:30 pm, followed by a 1-hour silent meditation at 3:00 pm. (During this time, there is the option to meet with the teachers for a 1:1 if you experience difficulties in your practice and need some guidance.) At 4:00 pm, we have a tea break and meet back up at 4:30 pm for a guided meditation. At 5:15, hold a Dharma talk to give participants insights into the Buddhist teachings. The Dharma talk goes until 6:00 pm, when dinner will be served. The last practices of the day are a silent meditation at 7:00 pm and Yin Yoga at 7:45 pm, to prepare the body and mind for a restful sleep. The practice ends at 8:30 pm. At that time, participants are usually more than ready for bed, since we start the next day at 5:40 with the wake-up bell again.
