Details

Not your usual yoga retreat. A life-transforming experience in the remote Indian Himalayas, this experience is for those who have a calling for a deep dive into the lap of Mother Nature, a desire for immersive practice, and a wish for lifelong connections and memories. This yoga retreat is meant to capture the essence of true spiritual sadhana or practice within the rich culture of the Garhwal Himalayas. Participants will have the unique opportunity to serve at our mindful and holistic primary school. Unlike boutique yoga retreats, which are disconnected from the local culture they are placed in, ours is meant to inspire simplicity, respect for others and the environment, and humility. Feel a part of the true Himalayan culture and homes. Through the experiences of dozens of participants, we can easily say that these retreats make a big impact – They are meant to give respect to the origins of Yoga and the transformative power of the Himalayas.

SBMA is an independent organization that works with the people of Uttarakhand Himalayas. The ashram evolved out of years of community struggle and in the activist tumult of the 1960's and '70s, the people of Garhwal, especially women, gave voice to their frustration against bad governance and superstition. As a platform for their struggle Swamiji founded SBMA in 1977.

Testimonials

info

I have traveled the world substantially and probably saved a few lives being a doctor, but being there with Khushi and others doing this retreat was the most fulfilling experience of my life. She takes care of you from the moment you step in India — you're never alone. It was like peeling an onion until you get to the heart of yourself. If you're questioning whether you should go, the answer is yes.

I came for the yoga — the pranayama, the asana, the philosophy — and what I got was deep human connection with the people I traveled with, the teachers, the staff, and the kids at APV School. Khushi's teaching left me feeling simultaneously energized and settled in a way I've never experienced before. I don't really want to leave, but I'm definitely coming back.

Linnea, United States

I met Khushi online through her yoga classes and when she offered this retreat I thought — there you go, the Himalayas. I didn't have any expectations, but I think the kids at the APV school turned out to be the best teachers. They taught me it's all about being in the moment.
