Testimonials

info

My time at Shamana in San Marcos, on the shores of Lake Atitlán, was nothing short of transformational. From the very first day, I felt immersed in a true wealth of knowledge — not just information to memorize, but embodied wisdom that felt lived, practiced, and generously shared. The depth of teaching was remarkable. The Ayurveda component added such a rich layer to the training, weaving together lifestyle, philosophy, and practical application in a way that made yoga feel complete and holistic. I didn’t just learn how to sequence or cue postures — I gained a framework for understanding the body, energy, and consciousness in a much more integrated way. Kirtan was woven into the training daily and the Saturday community Kirtan were some of my favorite moments. Singing together under the Guatemalan sky, surrounded by mountains and the lake, created a sense of community and devotion that is hard to put into words. There was something incredibly grounding and expansive about it all at once. The variety of ceremonies — especially the Mayan fire ceremony — were deeply enriching. They offered cultural depth and reverence that made the entire experience feel rooted and sacred. It wasn’t just a training; it was an initiation into something much larger than myself. By the end of the program, I felt genuinely confident stepping into the role of yoga instructor. The training didn’t just prepare me technically — it strengthened my voice, my presence, and my trust in myself as a teacher. Each meal was a beautiful balance of fresh, clean, Ayurvedic-inspired nourishment that supported the intensity of the training while still feeling vibrant and satisfying. You could feel the care in every dish. Batya's cooking class was a special bonus, getting to learn her secret ceremonial cacao recipe is something I will be incorporating at home. Batya and Eran welcomed us into their homes for all our meals and it was an honor to be treated like family, including spending time with their young son. And the accommodations and surrounding area? Unbelievable. Waking up to the lake, practicing with volcano views, and living in such natural beauty added a layer of magic that elevated everything. If you are looking for a yoga teacher training that blends depth, wisdom, cultural richness, devotion, and holistic living — this is it. I left not only certified, but transformed.

I just completed Shamana’s 200 hr YTT, and it’s hard to put into words how beautiful and transformative this experience was. Batya and Eran are not only amazing teachers, but true examples of a family living the yogic lifestyle. They opened their home and their hearts to us, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this experience. Can’t wait to come back for Level 2! Thank you for everything.

Liat, U.S.A

My YTT at Shamana has been magical and transformational. Eran and Batya not only open their house to their students but also their hearts. Every student is part of their family alongside their lovely son Pele, which is so special and very different from more commercial YTTs. They teach with passion and live an Ayurvedic lifestyle themselves which is super interesting. I now feel ready start teaching my own Yoga classes through valuable teaching experience gained in the Training (you get to teach twice, first in a group and then individually). Beyond the required Yoga content, many modules focus on getting in touch with oneself, which was wonderful and, in my opinion, so needed on the path to becoming a Yoga teacher. The space they created is beautiful and very inspiring for a Teacher Training overlooking Lake Atitlan. The community we built throughout the training felt like family and we all wished that we could have stayed a little longer. :) Thank you so so much!

My time with Eran and Batya was nothing short of life-changing. From the very first moment, I felt deeply seen, loved, and appreciated. Their warmth and care created such a safe and nurturing space that allowed me to open up, grow, and learn in ways I never imagined possible. They put so much intention into making sure everyone felt supported, comfortable, and valued. You could feel their love in every small detail, every shared moment, and every thoughtful gesture. I learned so much—not only from the experiences offered, but from simply being in their presence. Their wisdom, patience, and authenticity touched me deeply. It breaks my heart to leave such a magical place, a space where my soul felt truly at home. But I carry everything I learned here with me, and I know that I’m walking away with more clarity, more love, and a deeper connection to myself and others. Eran and Batya, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve created something truly special, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it. I will forever hold this time in my heart with gratitude and love.
