Details

When was the last time you paused long enough to hear what’s actually going on inside? This is a month living inside The Essence, a conscious community built to give you back the space ordinary life takes from you: room to breathe without rushing, to sit with yourself without distraction, to remember what actually matters. Your normal life is built to keep the current version of you in place. A short break doesn’t touch that. Thirty days, in different conditions, can. We call this practice Awakening Awareness: the muscle of watching your reactions, beliefs, and patterns surface in real time. Thirty days is long enough to live it, not just practice it. Morning practice, teaching, rest, evening practice, Satsang. No days off from yourself. Welcome to The Human Greenhouse — we build the conditions, you do the growing, and Chi is here to make sure you can’t hide from either: to challenge your mind, trigger what you avoid, question what you’re certain of, and push you past the point where you’d stop on your own. It won’t be comfortable. It isn’t supposed to be. And if thirty days isn’t enough, staying on as part of the community is a door, not an exit. WHAT MAKES THIS RETREAT SPECIAL Most programs teach you something. This one works differently. It removes what’s in the way. What makes this genuinely different is Chi’s direct presence throughout your stay, held inside real community life. He won’t go easy on you — he’s direct, he challenges what you’re most certain of, and he brings you to edges you’d never reach alone, while walking every step of it beside you. You’ll have a dedicated weekly one hour personal session with him during your stay and day-to-day access whenever a question, challenge, or doubt comes up. What he offers isn’t advice — it’s a direct mirror for what you’re too close to see yourself: your justifications, your blind spots, the way you see yourself and others. Most people go years without being looked at that closely. Here, it’s the whole point.

The food here is clean, simple, and purposeful. Vegan, gluten-free, and intentionally low in sugar, built on whole, unprocessed ingredients — designed to support the inner work, not distract from it. Intermittent fasting is a core part of the program: 19 hours daily, from 2:30 PM to 9:30 AM. This gives the body sustained space to rest, reset, and detox at a cellular level. It also brings the mind face to face with one of its most ordinary patterns — the impulse to eat as comfort or escape. If your body genuinely needs something in the evening, food is available by request. You sign to a staff member; they bring you fruit or warm soup. It is not on the table as an option. You decide consciously. 9:30 AM — Warm porridge with tropical fruit 12:30 PM — Detoxifying juice blend 2:00 PM — Nourishing vegan meal with fresh salad Water and herbal teas are available throughout the day.

Schedule

The daily structure is consistent and intentional. There is no free scheduling, no optional sessions. The container is held. THE RETREAT EXPERIENCE You arrive, and the rhythm is already moving — you're stepping into a day that was happening before you got here and will keep happening after you leave. That's deliberate: you're watching real life at The Essence. A MONTH IN THE RHYTHM Mornings open the same way they do for everyone here: stillness meditation at dawn, a teaching from Chi, movement to wake the body, breakfast together. From there, the day opens up — open community time, a shared juice and lunch, siesta, evening Qigong, Satsang to close the day. Practice at The Essence isn't about achieving a state or learning a technique. It's the ongoing act of noticing what's actually happening — in your mind, your body, the space around you — instead of running on the automatic patterns most people live inside without questioning. Chi won't go easy on you. He’s direct, he challenges what you're most certain of, and he brings you to edges you'd never reach alone — while walking every step of it beside you. Guidance happens through a weekly one-hour one-on-one session, with day-to-day availability if a question, challenge, or doubt comes up. This is a month of living differently — inside a real community, with real people, doing real work — and what becomes possible when thirty days give a pattern enough time to actually shift. The first days are for observing and settling into the rhythm. WHO THIS IS FOR Maybe you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or like you're at a breaking point. Maybe you don't know who you are anymore, or what you're here for. Maybe you're simply craving space to heal, reflect, and reset. However it shows up for you, here's the honest version — who this is for, and who it isn't. Come, if — It is time for something real, not just a break You're ready to show up to a daily structure that will challenge you You can genuinely step away from work and family for thirty days You are done with short breaks that don't change anything — you want depth, not novelty You are willing to step out of your comfort zone, question your beliefs, and commit to the process You're ready to give two hours a day in Seva — service to the community — as part of the fixed structure, and are welcome to go deeper if you choose You're looking for a space to go deeper into yourself over the long term, and for a community, not just a program Something in you already knows it's time Not yet, if — You are in acute mental health crisis You need to be reachable for work or family every day You're not willing to give two hours a day in service to the community — that part isn't optional here You're hoping to stay on your phone throughout the day — that's not this rhythm You're hoping for a teacher to fix you — that isn't what happens here You mainly want to escape your life for a while, not actually change it You need to stay in control of your time, space, and routine, and aren't ready to let the structure hold you. THE PRACTICES Stillness meditation using breath, body and mind awareness Self-inquiry methods Daily talks on self-awareness Daily Qigong Awakened body movement: pranayama, energy-centered movement, or yoga, selected based on group and individual capacity Teachings on the nature of the mind Seva Intermittent fasting: 19 hours daily (2:30 PM – 9:30 AM) Nourishing vegan and gluten-free meals, low in sugar Simple conscious living practices applicable to everyday life RETREAT BENEFITS * Time-tested resilience — thirty days is long enough to outlast your usual defenses, not just interrupt them * Direct confrontation with patterns that a short break doesn't have time to surface * A daily rhythm you can feel the shape of, rather than a list of activities * Ongoing support after you leave, through monthly calls with Chi for three months * Community experience — living, serving, and practicing alongside others doing the same work, with the option to go deeper beyond the daily Seva * A firsthand experience of a different way of living, and a real sense of whether it's aligned with you before you commit further

Testimonials

info

I wanted to find more peace and calm in daily life and to look deeper into any underlying pain I was holding on to. I was attracted to the amount of daily practice, the fasting, and the digital detox. I feel more relaxed and confident that I can just be. Believe in myself to be able to spend more time in quiet and not always distracting myself. If you are ready to be vulnerable and willing to uncover unconscious patterns and beliefs, you can change your way of living at this retreat. I learned more deeply the truth that "it is what it is" and I can be open and excited about all my experiences. The essential key is to stay in the moment and not be attached to my stories of limitation. Very powerful and empowering. This is a place to work on authenticity and to trust in the universe.

MUST DO! I was recently retired, needed help with technology, body and mind detox to start retirement season with reduced stress. This retreat offered full detox from technology, provided clean vegan meals with amazing taste and variety, learning how to meditate, various types of yoga and Qigong. The best part for me is the amount of practice daily, with plenty of time to rest. I learned to become aware of my stories more quickly and how to investigate the stories themselves. This retreat is amazing. The combination of the participants and the beautiful souls who run the retreat provide a unique experience of community support.

A Life-Changing Experience I came to this meditation retreat after going through an extremely difficult and traumatic time in my life. When I first spoke to Chi on the phone, he gently reminded me to come with no expectations, and that advice stayed with me throughout the entire journey. It took a couple of days to adjust to the rhythm and structure of the retreat, but once I settled in, I began to feel something shifting. With Chi's careful and compassionate guidance, I discovered parts of myself I didn't even know existed. The meditation sessions brought up a lot: memories, emotions, thoughts I had buried, and having a safe, supportive environment to share and process those feelings made all the difference. The wisdom shared throughout the retreat was simple yet incredibly profound. This is a space where you can truly explore the depth of who you are. It's not about becoming someone else, it's about reconnecting with who you've always been beneath the noise. I've found a sense of inner peace. I have found my center. That strength I carry with me now at all times. Also worth mentioning: the food. Absolutely amazing, nutritious, vibrant, and full of love. Every meal felt like a healing experience in itself. If you're looking to go deeper, to reconnect with yourself, to find peace and understanding, look no further. This retreat is for you.
