Kootenay school was a complete surprise. I usually am picky about teachers, where I go to take yoga and where I practice. Since becoming a mother my needs changed in terms of yoga. Kootenay worked for our family in the best possible way from the first communication with the school to all the details. It was the best option where I could take my family and do my teacher training on my own while my husband took care of our little one. The program, the timing, the FOOD all was excellent. The food was absolutely amazing I have to say that again. And the best of all was the teacher. I loved Marcia and her way of teaching, she is excellent and in a few simple lessons she re-inspired me into yoga. I also have to say that in all the years of practicing yoga I've never had a class that was that good, unique and not boring. I used to practice ashtanga for 2.5 years daily. I was able to see where in my previous practice I would end up with pain because of incorrect alignment. Marcia taught us the right alignment and I finally got a good understanding of the asanas. Also, I loved her approach that was grounded in reality to different bodies. I finally understood the bits of pieces of yoga philosophy that I learned over time but with Marcia it all clicked. I am now still using the philosophical elements of yoga in my life until today since the training. This is what I loved about this training that it was all applicable to real life and that it's not dogmatic but always in alignment with what's true inside your soul and yoga can be for anyone. I didn't believe that I would be able to teach a class after the 14 days but somehow the way they structured the program it all worked and I taught a class!! This training will give you confidence to teach with a grounded approach and applicable to life. The staff was also amazing, can't forget how they assisted to all of us. It was an expansive yoga experience. I could recognize the difference in my body and mind because of yoga practice during the training. When we came back I had the confidence to start practicing again, my lower back pain was gone and I generally felt so much better in my body. I would recommend this school to anybody, to complete beginners because it provides one of the best foundations for alignment, teaching and overall understanding of yoga philosophy for real life. I would recommend it to experienced practitioners who want to expand themselves in yoga or anyone who is looking to start teaching. I felt lost with my practice when I became a mother and thought it's not for me anymore but I was so wrong. So I am really grateful for this training and the whole experience it helped me to get back up.

I had an incredible experience at the Joshua Tree 200HR Yoga Teacher Training with Kootenay Yoga School! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the amazing Lisa and Addy, who instantly made me feel at home. Their warmth, openness, and genuine care created a sense of belonging that stayed with me throughout the training—they didn’t just lead the space, they became family. They both truly embody the spirit of yoga—supportive, kind, and inspiring. My instructor, Stephania Spitzer, who is extremely knowledgeable and whose passion for yoga is absolutely contagious. She carried a deep, lived understanding of the practice and shared her immense knowledge with such grace and clarity. Her dedication to both the practice and the teaching of yoga was palpable in every session. You could tell this wasn’t just a job for her—it was a true calling. Her enthusiasm ignited a deeper curiosity in me and motivated me to dive in fully, not just as a student, but as someone eager to carry forward the teachings with integrity and heart. Every lecture, every practice, every conversation was infused with her heart and wisdom. She didn’t just teach us how to guide a class—she showed us how to live yoga with authenticity, humility, and fire. The food was another beautiful part of the experience—nourishing, vibrant, and prepared with such intention. Every meal felt like a mindful celebration of fresh, wholesome ingredients that energized us for the intense and rewarding days of practice and study. The depth and clarity of information shared throughout the program were exceptional. Each session was thoughtfully designed to deepen both the practical and philosophical understanding of yoga, making the training not just educational, but transformational. Most importantly, this experience changed my heart. It opened me up to new ways of seeing myself and the world, filling me with compassion, courage, and a renewed sense of purpose. I left feeling not only confident and inspired but truly transformed at my core. I met the most amazing people on this journey who I will never forget! If you're looking for more than just a certification—if you're looking for transformation, connection, and truth—this is where you’ll find it. Thank you to Lisa, Addy, and Stephania for giving me a life changing experience and second home that I will carry with me forever.

If you’re considering a Kootenay yoga TT- just book it and get ready for one of the best experiences and expansions of your Yoga practice you could dream of. Our training was held in Joshua Tree and practicing yoga outdoors in the serene desert landscape was incredible. The sunrise sessions felt like a movie scene. The community that formed during the training was inspiring and uplifting, making the experience become more of a shared journey rather than just a teacher training. Lots of shared heart and mind opening. I’m looking forward to staying connected with fellow students. The coursework is balanced to give a solid foundation- study of yoga philosophy, anatomy, and alignment. The focus on meditation and breath work expanded my understanding of yoga beyond the physical postures. Our teacher had vast knowledge, experience and was genuinely invested in each individual student’s growth, and creating a uniquely supportive learning environment. She levelled up everyone in our group each day.

This experience was nothing short of magical! Marcia is an incredibly knowledgable and kind instructor. Every day her teachings were so thoughtful and well put together. Located just 20 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, the property itself is gorgeous with individual RVs throughout for those choosing individual occupancy, a cold plunge, hot tub, outdoor shower, outdoor tub, hammock, sun room, yurt, and massive swing. Outside of the facilities itself, the property is full of cool wildlife, Joshua Trees, and other cactuses. While there I saw countless shooting stars, road runners, bunnies, a wolf, and humming birds! I will truly miss spending my free time relaxing throughout it and soaking in the magic of the desert. Last but certainly not least, the food was out of this world! Every meal there was plenty of options and plenty to eat. I did not spend a moment hungry and truly looked forward to every meal. I can not recommend this experience enough!

Sarah was the most incredible instructor, you can tell she lives and breathes yoga and she was such an inspiration to me! She was so funny and truly felt like a friend from the start. An amazing surprise was to see the yoga school being run by 3 generations of incredible women: Lisa, Addie and Brenda. They really made the experience feel like home with their friendliness, compassion and amazing cooking! The food was truly one of the highlights!! I am at an intermediate level in my practice and I put off booking my YTT for such a long time thinking I wasn't up to the level, but my group was made of of many different levels and everyone was so supportive. I made some incredible friends and unforgettable memories. 2 ex-students even stopped by to practice and hang out, which speaks volumes about how wonderful the school and its people are. The course timetable was not as intense as I was expecting, we had plenty of free time to study/chill in between sessions and got to see plenty of Joshua Tree. The property is something really special and unique, it was magical to escape to such a peaceful spot.

Truly unforgettable. The yoga teacher training held by Kootenay in Joshua Tree was nothing short of amazing! The setting was serene, and Sarah, our teacher, was phenomenal. She brought such warmth and depth of knowledge to every class. Each and every one us felt seen and empowered by her. Her knowledge of yoga—both physical and philosophical—was inspiring. The food was another highlight. I was eating seconds of every meal and I swear there needs to be a cookbook out there from this program. The combination of Sarah’s guidance, the beautiful desert, and the amazing meals made this experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!
