Jumbo and hello dear traveler and welcome to Safari and Soul with Reshma.
I'm so glad that you're here to join me on today's short grounding meditation.
I hope that this helps you especially if you're having a chaotic day.
As we get ready,
Maybe just shake your hands,
Close your eyes if that's comfortable.
Whether you're sitting or standing,
Perhaps take off your shoes and feel the ground beneath you if that is accessible.
Settle into stillness.
Breathe slowly.
Let's take in a breath for a count of one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Holding for one,
Two,
Three,
Four and exhaling for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Take another deep breath in and exhale.
With your eyes closed,
Imagine in front of you the vast savanna and imagine on this vastness.
Perhaps you're sitting beneath a wide tortillis acacia tree.
The acacia tree,
Especially the tortillis kind,
Defines the African savanna.
It stands firm despite being in sometimes harsh and arid climates.
Its trunk is strong and its canopy expansive,
Creating a beautiful shelter that sometimes looks like an umbrella.
Leaves are protected by thorns and roots reach deep into the soil.
With your eyes still closed,
Imagine that from sitting under this tortillis acacia,
You are standing up and your arms are surrounding the trunk as you are starting to become this acacia tree.
Visualize roots extending from your body into the earth,
Your feet feeling more and more grounded as you connect to this tree.
With each inhale,
Draw nourishment upward.
Perhaps it feels like your arms need to move out to share in this nourishment.
With each exhale,
Sink deeper.
Feel your feet grounding deeper.
Feel your connection to this acacia tree stronger.
What must it be like to be the acacia tree standing tall,
Standing proud,
Seeing the earth come and go,
Animals come and go.
The wind moves through branches,
But the tree remains steady.
Leaves may rustle,
The thorns may whistle,
And yet the tree stands strong.
And just like the tree,
These things pass by.
You notice thoughts moving and you remain grounded.
Just like the tree,
You might sometimes sway with the wind,
But your feet are planted firmly.
The rains will come and this mighty tree will provide shade to those who take cover underneath.
It will also hold up the mighty leopard who sits regally on a branch,
Almost hidden.
As your roots go stronger,
You who are in this moment,
This acacia tree grows stronger.
Your branches extending to the radiant light of the divine.
Feel yourself standing tall like this tree.
Perhaps your body feels elongated now as your head rises higher to meet the sky.
Dear traveler,
You are here in this moment,
A testament to resilience.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold,
And exhale.
Take another deep breath in and feel as if this breath is coming from your roots,
From your feet,
Up to your legs,
Into your belly,
Into your chest,
Up to your throat.
And exhale.
One more last breath in and out.
With your eyes still closed,
Gently start to release this image,
This magnificent acacia tortillis.
Start to return,
Still feeling rooted,
Feeling steady,
Feeling enough.
Feel this grounding taking you through the rest of your day.
Open your eyes and feel the strength of the acacia tortillis within.
This is Safarian Soul.
Have a wonderful day.
