Hi,
My name is Robert Aceves,
And I welcome you to this sleep-guided meditation,
Zen Story,
Empty Your Cup.
In this meditation.
We'll talk about one of my favorite Zen stories.
Will also work on releasing stress from your daily life so you can enjoy a comfortable and restful sleep.
I'm going to ask you to find a comfortable position.
In a place where nobody will interrupt you for several minutes.
This could be on your bed or someplace safe where you can relax completely.
Let's begin.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in.
.
.
And slowly exhale.
Letting go of your day,
Preparing to journey into a peaceful and restful sleep.
You may readjust your body if you like.
Remember that this meditation is for you and for you to relax and enjoy the next few minutes of peace and tranquility.
Now.
Gently.
Bring your focus to your breath.
Inhaling deeply through your nose,
Filling your lungs completely.
Hold it for a moment.
And exhale slowly through your mouth.
Feeling the tension in your body melting away with each breath.
Releasing all the stress from your day and any emotional tension.
That may still be lingering on your body.
Relaxing your body from your head to your toes.
All the way down to your toes.
You you That's it.
Now,
Let's imagine yourself standing at the entrance of a serene zen garden.
The air is fresh and crisp.
Filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind.
You can feel the wind.
Gently touching your face.
And filling your body with this warm feeling.
It's the perfect temperature.
Take a moment to appreciate the beauty around you.
Feeling a sense of calm washing over you.
Observing the colors and the shapes of the plants around you.
As you step into this beautiful zen garden,
Feel the soft ground beneath your feet.
Grounding you to the earth.
Feeling the energy of Mother Earth.
As you continue to observe.
The beautiful,
Vibrant colors of the flowers.
You begin to hear.
Delicate sound.
Of a nearby stream.
And you can feel how this sound helps you to relax even more.
Enjoying the sounds and the harmony of nature.
This creates a sense of well-being in you.
That starts to spread.
Throughout your whole body.
I don't know.
I don't know.
That's it.
As you continue to walk through this beautiful Zen garden,
In the heart of this peaceful garden,
You can observe a small traditional Japanese wooden tea house.
You approach it.
And gently.
Slide the door open.
Inside.
The room is simple.
Yet inviting.
With traditional Japanese tatami mats on the floor.
And a low table set for tea.
Sitting at the table,
Is a wise Zen master.
His presence radiating calm.
And wisdom.
This Zen Master.
Invites you to sit with him.
And welcomes you into his house for tea.
You accept and sit across from the master.
Feeling a sense of anticipation and curiosity.
The master nods to you.
Acknowledging your desire to learn and find inner peace.
And even though.
Nothing has been said.
You can already sense that something important is about to happen.
The master begins to prepare tea with graceful,
Deliberate movements.
As the tea brews in a small teapot,
You observe the calm.
And focus.
In his actions.
You can feel a wonderful sense of safety and compassion from the Zen master.
Finally,
He pours tea into your cup.
Building it to the brim.
It continues pouring down.
And the tea begins to overflow.
Spilling onto the table.
You watched the Zen master spilling tea.
Feeling a mixture of confusion and curiosity.
After a moment,
You can't contain yourself and you exclaim,
Master,
The cup is full.
There's no more room.
The master looks at you with kind,
Knowing eyes and says,
Like this cup,
You are full of your own opinions.
And ideas.
How can I teach you Zen,
Unless you first empty your cup?
As he stopped spilling the tea.
He grabs a rag to clean the tea.
As you think deeply.
About what just happened.
You take a deep breath in.
You exhale slowly,
Absorbing the master's words.
Feeling a sense of understanding.
Dawn upon you.
As the master continues cleaning his mass,
Hands you the cup of tea.
You can feel.
Huh?
Cup of tea.
On your hands.
As you hold this tea.
You realize that in order for you to truly learn and grow,
You must let go of preconceived notions and make space for new insights and wisdom.
You take a sip of your hot tea.
And feel the warmth of the hot tea.
Entering your mouth.
You can taste the tea.
And it gives you a sense of calmness.
You take your time to enjoy the tea in silence with a zen master as you receive the wisdom from this master.
You know that not much has been said.
However,
You can feel the transmission of the wisdom of his words to you.
After you finish your tea.
You put your cup on the table.
You stand up,
Slowly,
And vow to the Zen master.
And thank him for the tea.
And the lesson.
You step out of the tea house.
Back to the Zen garden.
And walk to a small corner where you find a great spot for you to sit and meditate on what just happened.
As you return your focus to your breath,
Inhaling deeply.
Exhaling slowly.
You reflect.
On what the Zen Master just showed you.
And imagine yourself emptying your cup.
Emptying your mind.
Of all thoughts,
Opinions,
And worries.
You can visualize each exhale as a release.
Allowing you to let go of anything that fills your mind unnecessarily.
Emptying your mind with each breath.
And feeling how your body feels so much better.
Letting go of all those things that you don't need to carry with you anymore.
Feel the calmness and clarity that comes with an empty mind,
Open and ready to receive new knowledge and experiences as you're sitting on this beautiful zen garden.
Listening.
To the stream of water.
Passing by.
Embrace the peace that comes with letting go.
Allowing yourself to be fully present in this moment.
Enjoying the nature around you and breathing naturally.
Sitting there as if you were just another plant on this garden.
Breathing comfortably and effortlessly.
Without our care in the world.
Emptying your mind.
Emptying your cup.
Right now,
You don't have to go anywhere.
You don't have to do anything at all.
Just simply sit there and enjoy this moment of peace and relaxation.
That's it.
Continue breathing naturally and enjoying this wonderful moment.
As your physical body lies on your bed.
You continue to focus on your breath.
That's it.
Continue breathing.
Naturally.
And enjoying this wonderful moment.
As your physical body.
Lies on your bed.
You continue to focus on your breath,
Emptying your mind with each inhale.
Emptying your mind.
And with each inhale,
Continue to invite peace and relaxation into your body.
With each exhale,
Releasing any remaining tension or thoughts,
Until you can be completely empty.
Nothing is nothing.
That's it.
Feel how your body feels now.
Remember that the more you can relax,
The more benefits you'll get from emptying your mind.
And when you know that you are ready for a restful night's sleep,
Your mind will be more calm and clear.
Ready to sleep.
This is the time to embrace the serenity of the Zen garden within you.
Let it guide you into a deep sleep.
Restorative.
Sleep.
That's it.
My voice will leave you shortly.
However,
You may continue to rest for as long as you like And when you're ready to come back,
You'll come back feeling so much better.
Better than ever.
Gently bringing your awareness back to the present moment.
But for now,
Feel free to enjoy the comfort of your bed and the tranquility and emptiness within you.
Allowing yourself to drift off into a peaceful and rejuvenating sleep.
Thank you for listening,
Good night,
And talk to you soon.
Sleep.
Thank you very much.
And we'll see you next time.
And we'll see you in the next one.
We're going to be doing this next week,
And we're going to be doing this next week,
And we're going to be doing this next week.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
You you I don't know.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I don't know.
Bye.
You you.
Thank you.
