
Yoga Nidra ~ Origin Of Embodiment
Yoga Nidra is a practice of deep inner sleep. Origin of Embodiment explores the relationship between the subtle body and physical body, whereby the subtle body gives rise or birth to the physical body from the inside out. This practice is meant to return the awareness of our gross physical forms back to the subtlety they come from. With all my Love, I hope you enjoy it! Sheena
Transcript
To walk in a body is a dance of the stars,
A lifetime's momentary enchantment unveiling who we are,
Steady and footed,
Steps in time,
All the while waking the earth to her divine.
Where did you come from,
My sage of hearts?
And how would you walk knowing who you are?
Inviting you to lay down in a comfortable and quiet space,
Set your body up for the practice of yoga nidra,
Using blankets,
Pillows,
Or anything else that makes you feel comfortable and warm.
You are welcome to stay connected to the instructions,
To follow along and come back to my voice if you get lost.
You are welcome to release my voice at any time,
Following the wisdom of you in union with the inner teacher.
Lay your eyes closed as if tucking your eyes in with a heavy comforter of your eyelids.
Notice the dark space of your eyelids and connect to the temperature of your closed eyes.
Notice the weight of your eyes resting into the cradle of the sockets.
And gently move your mouth into the shape of a relaxed O.
Breathe in through your mouth,
Through this O shape,
Inviting awareness into your lungs,
Belly,
And down into your pelvis.
Exhale out of the O shape,
Connecting from your pelvis through your mouth.
Continue breathing this way for a few more rounds in through the O shape,
Awareness from lips down to pelvis,
And exhaling awareness from pelvis back through the mouth,
Priming the thinking mind to rest and return into the feeling body.
Release the shape of your lips and watch as your lips rest back into their fullest expression.
Sense the breath shifting from mouth to nose.
This is where the inner practice of yogic sleep begins.
Remain awake and watch the breeze of the breath flowing in and out of the nose as you feel the highest point inside of the nostrils that the breath reaches and the temperature of the breath at the highest point of the nasal passage.
The sister of breath is prana or energy.
Notice the waves of energy washing through your nose and then reaching up and beyond the physical barrier of the nasal passage into your brain and skull.
Relax your awareness into the space of the skull and notice the subtle changes that may occur there as you breathe in and out.
Sense the energy of the breath washing into the brain,
Noticing any subtle shifts in temperature or feeling in the skull and in the brain.
Sense the brain filling with presence and energy as you inhale and release all of the energy of the brain back into the skull and the weight of the skull steady into the ground,
Inviting the skull to rest fully into its weight and the weight of the skull guiding the spine into surrender as you flow down and touch each vertebrae with attention,
Flowing down from the upper spine,
Mid spine,
And release each vertebrae into its connection to the earth,
Dropping into union with her low spine.
Notice now the weight of the pelvis and lower back on the ground.
Let the pelvis drop into its full weight and the bones of the legs follow this surrender.
As your body releases into total stillness,
Notice if there's any part of your body with a strong flow of energy happening right now.
If there's anywhere with more heat,
Pulse,
Or sensation,
Notice if there's anywhere with quieter,
Subtle sensation.
Feel into the spaces of your body that have subtle energy flow now.
Arrive in the center of your chest.
Imagine and feel in the center of your chest there is an etheric balloon.
As your body moves deeper into rest,
There is a natural warmth and expansion in the heart chakra,
Each gentle,
Natural breath feeding the expansion of this space as you connect with the heart chakra.
Witness a natural opening of this space,
A filling of this etheric balloon.
The heart is opening.
Now sense and feel the etheric balloon moving down into your solar plexus inside your low ribs.
Notice as the balloon begins to expand easily,
Watching as the breath filters down into the space and rest here to observe the natural expansion,
The etheric balloon inside your solar plexus expanding with each and every breath,
Opening up more and more.
Sense the space of the solar plexus opening,
Widening and expressing more flow.
Feel the etheric balloon descend down into your womb space or the space of your lower abdomen,
Awareness landing and present in this chakra to notice its expansion.
Do even less and just arrive in the space of womb or lower belly.
Watch as each inhale naturally cascades down into this space,
The portal of the second chakra opening,
Your presence and breath filling and expanding this etheric balloon inside the womb and low belly.
Now move your attention lower into the base of your pelvis.
Let the balloon expand as you arrive.
Now you get to watch and notice the natural opening of the root chakra,
Perhaps sensing this chakra inside your body and outside of your body.
The sense of opening in and around the hips,
The etheric balloon opening and expanding with each breath.
The whole inner landscape released,
Receptive and listening,
The inner body widening and returned to its natural flow.
San kalpa,
An inner truth moved through the heart from the higher self to be observed and integrated in the mind and body.
Perhaps there is a simple sense of unconditional peace or ease,
Maybe that sense rises up in a word like peace or love.
There might be a visualization or impression.
If there is a clear San kalpa coming from the heart,
Repeat it using words three times and feel the feeling of those words in your field.
I am peaceful,
I am okay.
Whatever is true for you being repeated now in word and feeling three times.
Welcoming you to travel along and connect with different parts of the physical body,
Feeling,
Sensing and noticing the body parts that are mentioned.
Connect to the flow of energy and move from one body part to the next.
Land and feel the palm of the right hand,
Right hand,
Thumb,
Pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Small finger,
Palm and all five fingers together,
Back of the right hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Right shoulder,
Armpit,
Right side torso,
Hip,
Thigh,
Back of the hamstring,
Front of the knee,
Back of the right knee,
Shin,
Calf muscle,
Top of the foot,
Heel,
Sole of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe.
Wellness flows now to the palm of the left hand,
Left hand,
Thumb,
Pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Small finger,
All five fingers and left palm together,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Left armpit,
Left side torso,
Left hip,
Thigh,
Back of the hamstring,
Front of the knee,
Back of the knee,
Shin,
Calf muscle,
Top of the left foot,
Heel,
Sole of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
The soles of both feet together.
Prepare now to move at the back of the body.
Feel the right heel and the back of the right leg.
Now the left heel and the back of the left leg,
Right side of the back,
Left side of the back,
Back of the right arm,
Back of the left arm,
Back of the neck,
Back of the head,
Crown of the head,
Crown of the head,
Land in the crown of the head.
Flow now to feel different parts of the face.
Sense the center line of the face.
Then land in the center of the forehead,
The right eyebrow,
Center of the forehead,
The left eyebrow,
Center of the forehead,
Both eyebrows together.
Then awake and sense the space between the eyes,
The whole right eye,
Space between the eyes,
The whole left eye,
Space between the eyes and both eyes together.
Travel down the bridge of the nose and land in the tip of the nose,
The right nostril,
The left nostril,
The whole nose together.
Travel along the right cheekbone and land on the right temple.
Travel along the left cheekbone and land on the left temple.
Feel both right and left temples together.
The outer right ear,
The outer left ear,
The deep channels of the ears,
Center of the brain,
Inside the mouth,
Whole tongue,
Upper lip,
Lower lip,
Center of the chin,
The jaw,
Front of the torso.
Let your awareness return fully to each point on the body.
Connect to the whole body,
The flow of energy moving between all of the points lit up on the body,
The whole body.
The origin of the outer senses connected down into different energy centers in the body.
Through the deep inner channels of the senses,
We now return to the origins of embodiment.
Start with smell and the nose.
Notice any smells and the energy of the nose.
Move the energy of smell and the nose down through the open inner body,
Pulling the energy of the nose down all the way to the base of the pelvis,
The root chakra,
Returning the energy of smell and the nose into the root chakra all the way out to the other side,
Returning all of it back to the root chakra now.
Notice inside your mouth,
The whole tongue and any taste.
Move the energy of the mouth and taste and the tongue all the way down through the open inner body.
Return the energy of the mouth and tongue back into the second chakra,
The lower belly or the womb,
Returning all of the energy of taste and mouth into the second chakra and out through the other side,
Giving it all back,
All back to the second chakra now.
Connect to the warmth of the eyes,
The energy of sight connected through the inner passageway of the body.
Move the energy of the eyes down the inner body to the solar plexus inside the small ribs.
The energy of the eyes returning back to the solar plexus returned fully the fire of sight completely to the solar plexus and out the other side.
Fingers,
Toes,
Arms and legs,
The energy of touch pulling back now the energy of touch into the heart chakra,
Returning the sense of touch and the energy of arms and legs all the way back into the heart chakra,
The center of the chest,
Releasing it out to the other side.
An act of deep inner arriving,
Pulling everything back into the heart and out the other side.
Connect to the ears and the vibration of sound.
Call all of the sounds and the energy of the ears back into the throat,
The throat related to speaking and also deep inner listening.
Throat chakra opening to receive the energy of ears and hearing and connecting the sense organ back through the throat and following as you release the energy to the other side of the throat chakra.
Let awareness move to the lower brain,
The brain stem and nervous system.
All of the subtle energy of the deep lower brain and brain stem now disappearing into the space between the eyebrows.
The endless sea of potential between the eyebrows receiving and dissolving the energy of the brain stem and nervous system.
A deep returning home of brain and nervous system checking in so deeply until all that remains is the higher brain and the front brain,
The human brains.
Awake and aware of the energy flowing through the higher brain and release the brain out through the crown chakra,
The crown of the head.
Through the top of the head returning all of the brain and mind energy giving it back to its origin.
Release any hold emptied and returned.
Dissolve now into the pure ocean of stillness inside.
All inside.
All returned.
Emptied and back into the origins.
If you notice parts of the senses returning,
Give them all back again over and over.
Letting it all fade for a few moments until my voice returns again.
All returned.
Emptied and back again.
All returned.
Emptied and back again.
All returned.
Emptied and back again.
All returned.
Emptied and back again.
All returned.
Emptied and back again.
Locate the origin of each virtue in the parts of you where it already exists.
From the expanded spaces of the formless all the way back into the form of the body.
Tune in,
Awaken and invite the virtue and its origin to come alive within you.
Begin by sensing the energy of humility.
Connect to the essence of humility that is already there.
Feel the essence of humility.
It can be quiet.
It can be loud.
Maybe there are visions or impressions.
The essence of humility allowed in the body now.
Release humility.
And now invite an awareness of your own sexuality into your body.
The experience of this essence.
The vital life force energy.
What keeps you alive and vibrant.
The experience of your own sexuality in your body.
Feel it and notice if there are any images that arise.
And shift and connect to the virtue of patience.
Tune in to patience.
All of the possibilities.
Feeling patience.
Sensing.
Notice if there are images that arise.
And you connect to patience.
Welcome it into the physical body.
Now tune in to the experience of compassion and love.
The essence of compassion and causeless love.
Where do you feel that in your body?
Welcome any images or perceptions of causeless love and compassion that are authentically really there.
Release the focus of compassion and love.
Let your attention linger in the space of the heart.
It's now time to reconnect to your sankalpa.
A seed of truth awakened to be known.
Sense and feel the words of your sankalpa.
The I am statement.
Tune in to it.
Repeat it three times and feel it changing the structure of your body.
Clearing out old beliefs.
Old circumstances and limitations.
And replacing them with truth and alignment.
Release your sankalpa to the fertile ground of the quantum field.
Let your attention return through the sense channels back into this moment in time.
Notice if there are any smells in the space around you.
Notice if there is anything new to smell.
If there's a taste on your tongue.
Does that taste bitter,
Sweet,
Sour,
Familiar taste or a new taste?
And the sensation of the eyes and inner seeing.
Letting the eyes perhaps move around.
Sweeping across the backdrop of your eyelids.
Returning to sound.
Notice any sounds happening in your environment and feel your body.
All of your faculties completely returning into this moment.
Back into this body here and now.
Begin to deepen your breath.
Deepen your breath and savor a few moments in this sweet present moment.
And watch your body awaken from its deep surrender.
Walking with what is fresh and renewed and remembered.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
