Progressive Counting was designed to interrupt thoughts and slow down the hyperactive minds of people with ADHD, Insomnia, Anxiety, OCD, Stress, or POPS (People Overthinking Problems Syndrome) in less than 1 minute. In this meditation, you learn the easiest way to do a Progressive Counting by practicing with an 11-count.

This is the basic introduction to progressive counting,

The simple technique that is the basis of Omega breathing.

The easiest way to learn this technique is to use the number 11.

This is because the first number that you start counting with and the number that you end with will have the same digit.

So inhale naturally and when you exhale you count and in this case we would count from 1 to 11.

Very fast in order to expel energy and we would leave a little bit of space at the end of the breath so that we can recall what our next starting number is going to be,

Which is going to be 2.

So we count 1,

2,

3,

4,

5,

6,

7,

8,

9,

10,

11.

Finishing off the breath with space and ujjayi,

Then inhale naturally and fully and on your second breath count from 2 to 12.

2,

3,

4,

5,

6,

7,

8,

9,

10,

11,

12.

And on your third breath you would start with 3 and end with 13.

And do this counting internally,

It's just to occupy your mind.

At the end of the breath is where thoughts would normally creep in and so by recalling that starting number for the next breath it fills up that space and that blocks your thoughts which will allow you to fall asleep.

It actually will wear out your mind and instead of trying to relax you'll just get tired and fall asleep.

So that's the basic technique.
