I am so pleased to have you join me today.
I'm going to be talking about finding your happy place.
Let's face it,
We all have challenges that can really disrupt our balance and well-being.
And it's important to develop reliable ways to stop the tension,
Stress,
Anxiety,
All that can rob us from living life fully and joyfully.
Sounds like a tall order?
I have a secret for you.
It isn't if you make careful and intentional choices.
Hi,
I'm Peggy Sielfun.
I'm a personal development coach,
Author,
And motivational speaker trained in Western and Eastern traditions.
So I'm going to share with you a helpful method using my integrated life coaching system so that you can find your happy place mentally,
Emotionally,
And physically to change those moments when you may feel things just aren't working out for you.
You may feel lonely or that no one understands you.
Your relationships just aren't going how you want.
Or you may be confronted by a major health challenge.
Or you're just not liking your job or you've just lost your job.
Forget about finding purpose.
Who has time or energy?
You feel like you've given up.
You're just tired of trying.
Well,
Do not despair.
I've felt many of those same feelings and frustrations,
Truly.
And I'm here to affirm that you can overcome.
Not only overcome,
You can thrive.
Believe me,
I've spent a lot of years looking to find the answers.
And I'm going to share the most important discovery I've made.
The truth is,
The answer is not out there.
Out there can be distracting and,
Well,
Even toxic.
The answer is within you.
The problem is that you may be feeling so stressed and anxious right now in trying to find the answers that you're blocking them actually from revealing themselves to you.
So here's what I'd like to give you.
A way to connect to your inner guidance system.
To do that,
You need a way to quiet your mind so that you can be relaxed enough to open up,
To let it flow.
That's what we'll work on right now.
So are you ready?
I want you to imagine your happy place.
At one time or another,
You were somewhere where you really felt good,
Positive,
Confident.
It may have been at an earlier time in your life.
Or you were on a fabulous vacation in an idyllic setting.
Or you were doing something that just gave you a feeling of pride and accomplishment.
Or you were with someone who you truly loved and who you felt loved by.
I want you to pick one moment that stands out above all others.
A time in which you felt super good,
Super charged.
Think about it.
What comes to your mind to help you relax just a little bit?
Take a nice full deep breath in through your nose and just let go with a big sigh.
And I'll give you a moment to just consider where is that happy place for you?
Do you have that moment in mind?
I'd like to invite you to sit comfortably,
Close your eyes,
And focus on your happy place.
Take another big deep breath in and let go again with a sigh.
With your eyes closed and your mind on the happy place,
Notice where are you?
Notice what's all around you.
What are you seeing in your mind's eye?
What colors,
Shapes,
Textures are in your field of vision?
Do you see yourself sitting,
Standing?
Are you able to take in the whole scene?
If you can,
Just notice what sounds you're hearing.
What smells are wafting into your nose?
What are you feeling on your skin?
Are you outdoors or indoors?
Is there a light breeze,
Sunshine,
Bright lights?
Take it all in.
Are you noticing any tastes?
Focus on it.
Focus inward,
Using all your senses to bring you into acute awareness about your happy place.
Be aware of sensations in your body as you relax more and more into recalling this happy moment.
Your body is actually responding in positive ways.
Notice how quiet your mind has become and how slow your heart is beating.
Feel a deep sense of peace and calmness in this moment.
Now take another deep breath in.
As you exhale,
Just allow your eyes to open.
Take a moment now to give your happy place a name.
One of my clients uses Biltmore.
Another,
St.
Martin.
Another uses Robert.
Just find one word that for you describes your happy place.
I'll show you how to use that word and why it works.
Do you have your word?
I hope you do.
Now you have what I call an interrupter.
Anytime that you're aware of feeling stressed,
Anxious,
Or even exhausted,
You can call to mind your happy place using the word you just created.
Say the word to yourself in that moment of disturbance.
And you can instantly change how you feel.
Basically,
Interrupt the pattern of distress,
Which is your choice.
The fact is,
The mind cannot discern any difference between an imagined experience and a real one.
When you visualize your happy place,
Your body and mind feel that you're there.
The biological,
Chemical,
And electromagnetic responses in the body reproduce the healthful impact of that visualization.
To use the interrupter most effectively,
I suggest you practice using the visualization you just created as often as possible.
Before you get out of bed in the morning,
Just say your word and envision yourself in your happy place.
So you begin your day uplifted and feeling good.
The more you practice your interrupter,
The more available it will be for you when you're entering a downward spiral.
And we all have them.
This simple technique is an easy way to change those moments quickly.
Just change your mindset.
I hope you've gotten value from your time with me today.
And that you've gotten helpful insights on how to be more joyful on this journey of life.
Happiness is an inside job.
I'm Peggy Sielfun,
And I'm sending you love and light.
May you live fully with passion and purpose.
