I welcome in the season,
A meditation for autumn.
Autumn is the season of letting go.
As the abundance of summer fades and the season of mellow fruitfulness comes upon us,
We give thanks for what has passed and look forward to the season of winter rest.
In this in-between space,
We let go of what lies behind and begin to slow down,
Take a breath and take in the delight of this very special time of year.
Allow these words to wash over you and bless your transition into the coming season.
You may wish to add ideas of your own silently in your head or afterwards in your journal.
Now take a deep breath,
Hold it at the top,
Exhale and let's begin.
I welcome in autumn.
I welcome in falling leaves of red and gold,
Rustling underfoot,
Reminding me that everything is ever-changing.
The wheel of the year keeps turning and as surely as the leaves fall and come to rest,
New leaves and new blossoms will come in good time.
I welcome in the shortening of the days.
I use this as an invitation to slow down,
Rest more,
Let myself off the hook and allow for enjoyment and ease instead of constant activity and productivity.
To appreciate the delights of one season as it ends while looking forward to the comforts of the next.
I welcome in the cooling air.
As the heat of summer subsides,
I allow myself to take deep breaths and feel the chill in the air.
I savour the last moments of outdoor living and bask in the delight of wrapping up warm in a favourite cosy sweater.
I welcome in the fruits of the season.
Juicy apples and blackberries in pies,
Cobblers and crumbles.
Hot mulled cider and pumpkin spice lattes in favourite mugs.
The smells and tastes of autumn abundance.
As the nights draw in,
I welcome in the comforts of home and hearth and give thanks for the roof over my head and for those nearest and dearest to me.
I choose to treasure them all.
I welcome in this season.
I treasure its delights.
I let go of all that no longer serves me and I am at peace.
Now take a deep breath.
Exhale and step into autumn.
Divine.
