In this meditation, we will be working with the phrase 'everything is as it should be'. This statement is not a denial of reality, or of the pain and difficulty present in the world and our personal circumstances. It’s simply an acknowledgment that whatever we are going through, whatever is happening in the world, the world is still turning, life is still unfolding, the universe is still expanding, and, good or bad, this too shall pass.

Welcome to this meditation on acceptance and trust.

The phrase we will be working with today is this,

Everything is as it should be.

It's important not to overthink this.

This statement is not a denial of reality or the pain and difficulty present in the world and our personal circumstances.

Neither is it a declaration of blind faith,

A determination that suffering is somehow divinely ordained.

No,

It's simply an acknowledgement that whatever we are going through,

Whatever is happening in the world,

That the world is still turning,

Life is still unfolding,

The universe is still expanding,

And good or bad,

This too shall pass.

Now pause,

Breathe in,

Hold the breath,

Exhale,

And let's begin.

Come to a comfortable seated position and bring your attention to your breath.

There is no need to change or manipulate the breath,

Just notice it and allow it to be as it is.

Breathing gently in and out of the nose,

Notice the air entering your body and leaving your body.

The rhythm of the breath,

Which continues day and night,

Whether we choose to notice it or not.

Take a moment to be grateful for your breath,

Breathing slowly in and slowly out.

Now we will introduce our centering thought,

Everything is as it should be.

Repeat this phrase silently in your mind for the next few minutes.

If at any point you find your mind has wandered off into thoughts,

Gently bring it back by returning to the words,

Turning to the words,

Everything is as it should be.

If you feel any resistance to this phrase,

Just allow it to be there.

So drawing this practice to a close now,

Bring one or both hands to your heart to seal in these words and bring them forward into your day.

Repeat to yourself one more time,

Everything is as it should be.

Now take a deep breath,

Hold it at the top,

Exhale and step back into your day.
