Hi,

This is Orit Krug,

Board certified dance movement therapist and trauma and relationship expert.

Today,

I would love to share with you the secret to self-love and guide you through a practice that will help you feel more self-love in a way that really sticks and in a way that can really become embodied in your experience instead of talking about how you want to love yourself and constantly feeling frustrated that you don't actually feel it.

To start this meditation,

You can place your body in any position that feels comfortable for you right now.

You may start lying down,

Sitting down,

Or standing up.

Once you feel like you've found a good enough position,

We're going to take three deep breaths together.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Again breathing in and breathing out.

One last time,

Breathing in and breathing out.

With your eyes closed or your gaze lowered,

I'm going to invite you to tune into an uncomfortable or difficult feeling that you have been feeling lately.

Whether it's anxiety,

Disappointment,

Sadness,

Frustration,

Just choose one of these feelings that you've been challenged with lately and as you focus on this feeling,

Notice the first sensation that comes up in your body.

Whatever that sensation was,

I'm going to ask you to invite movement into the sensation.

So if you felt a constriction in your chest,

You might naturally start to breathe a little bit deeper or put your hands to your chest.

If you felt an immediate drop in your stomach,

You might feel the natural urge to put your hands on your stomach or even double over while you hold your stomach.

If you felt an overall sense of heaviness,

You might feel a natural urge to lay your body down and surrender your weight to the floor or the bed or whatever surface you're on right now.

Let your body lead you here and whatever sensation you felt first,

Allow organic movement to come through your body and move with this sensation.

You may be repeating the same movements over and over again or your movements may be naturally developing,

Shifting or expanding into other movements.

Whatever you're doing,

There is no right or wrong and if your mind starts to tell you that there is a right or wrong or that you should be doing something in a different way,

Allow your focus to come back to your body and let your body move you,

Not your mind.

As you're moving here,

You are actually practicing the essence of self-love because self-love is being able to be with and move with your difficult emotions without escaping your body or dissociating or trying to fix or push away the uncomfortable feeling.

By moving with and being with your difficult emotions right now,

You are showing yourself through your body that you are worthy of love and you are lovable even when you don't feel great,

Even when you're struggling with difficult emotions.

Continue to be here with yourself and to move with these feelings and sensations and show yourself that you are worth loving no matter what you're feeling.

When you allow yourself to see yourself and be vulnerable in whatever emotions or sensations you're feeling,

You can start really acting on self-love that sticks because even when you're healed from trauma,

Even when you're generally in a good place,

You're always going to have experiences in life that knock you down,

That make you feel upset or regret or any other difficult emotion.

And if you can stick with yourself,

If you can stop abandoning yourself or sending yourself the message that you don't deserve to be seen and you don't deserve to stay connected to yourself or your relationships through these emotions,

Then you will find it really difficult and even impossible to love yourself.

So in this moment,

Continue to feel whatever you're feeling and move those feelings,

Be with those feelings,

Journey with yourself through those feelings by allowing whatever movements want to come through as you move with these feelings.

Keep moving,

Keeping with your feelings for about another minute and then we'll start to bring this to an end.

Whatever you're doing right now,

However you're moving,

Start to gradually,

Slowly and incrementally bring your movements to a close,

Making your movements gradually slower and smaller until you find yourself coming to a pause and maybe even landing in a position that feels good for you right now.

Once you've found that position,

Let's take a deep breath together,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Gently open your eyes,

Look around your space,

Make physical contact with your body,

Letting yourself know that you are right here,

Right now.

I encourage you to do this meditation consistently every day if you can until you are truly embodying and integrating what self-love really is.

Show yourself,

Prove to yourself that you are lovable,

That you are loved by loving yourself first no matter what you're feeling.

And until next time,

You deserve to be able to let healthy,

Lasting love in.
