Welcome to this SOS meditation.
In this 10 minute session,
We will focus on relaxation techniques to help you find a bit of peace and calmness amongst the stress and anxiety that you may be experiencing right now.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable and quiet place to sit or lie down.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Now bring your attention to your breath.
Feel the air coming in through your nose,
Filling up your lungs and then slowly exhale.
Repeat this for a few more breaths.
As you exhale,
Try to release any tension or negative thoughts that you may be holding onto.
Now,
Let's try a technique called progressive muscle relaxation.
Focus on different parts of your body,
Starting with your toes.
Tighten the muscles in your toes as much as you can.
Hold and then release.
Move up to your calves.
Tense,
Hold and release.
Then your thighs.
Tense,
Hold and release.
Your abdomen.
Tense,
Hold,
Release.
Your shoulders.
Tense,
Hold,
Release.
Your arms.
Tense,
Hold,
Release.
And finally your face.
Tense,
Hold,
Release.
Feel the tension melting away.
Enjoy the feeling of being calm and relaxed.
Now let's shift your focus to your thoughts.
Imagine yourself sitting in a peaceful place,
Like a beach or a mountaintop.
See yourself surrounded by nature,
With the sound of the waves,
The wind and the trees.
If any thoughts or worries come into your mind,
Don't try to push them away.
Acknowledge them and then let them go,
Returning to your focus on the peaceful image in your mind.
Now let us take yet another deep breath with the intention of releasing any remaining tension in your body.
In through your nose and out through your mouth.
Imagine yourself sinking deeper into relaxation.
Now let's bring your attention back to your breath.
Take a deep inhale in through your nose,
Hold and then exhale slowly through your mouth.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Remember that you can return to this peaceful place whenever you need it.
Just remember to take a few deep breaths and exhale,
Releasing all the tension.
Now when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
