Everyone wants happiness. There is a difference between pleasure and externally stimulated happiness and enduring happiness. The former is dependent on others or positive circumstances. It is unreliable, unstable, and most often leads to "ups and downs" of emotions. Inner happiness, in contrast, is dependent on nothing but a presence in ones natural and authentic self. We first learn to know the difference between our acquired and natural self, then follow the pointing out instructions to directly experience this authentic presence and being, and finally experience and realize that innate to our natural self is an effortless, stable, and unchanging happiness that is not dependent on outer circumstances and can remain througout the ebb and flow of life. This meditation begins with a brief introduction to the nature of enduring happiness and the authentic self and then guides the participant to a direct realization. Practice this meditation and listen to the teaching again and again.
