Hi,
It's Brooks and welcome to So What.
I got hiccups.
Oh my god.
So what?
I got hiccups.
What are you gonna do?
Um,
Yeah,
So I was thinking lately about how great that phrase is.
So what?
So what?
It means,
For me it means I don't care.
It doesn't bother me.
It's not worth the worry.
And when I find myself worrying about something that I can't do anything about,
Or that's really unimportant,
I think so what?
You know,
So what?
Oh well,
You know.
Oh well,
I like that one too.
Oh well,
What are you gonna do?
There's something really satisfying and relaxing about saying these things.
And I think they're a great spiritual technique.
And by spiritual technique I mean anything that gives you a healthy relief.
You know,
You get relief,
It feels good,
And you get peace of mind.
So,
So what?
Right?
So,
So,
What I would love to do is to give you a little time to think about things that are bugging you.
Things that you think about a lot,
They're just wearing you down.
And perhaps there's nothing you can do about it,
Or you're trying,
But it's unsuccessful.
You're frustrated and you're tired,
Right?
So,
I'm gonna give you a little time to think about these things that bug you that seem like I can't let go of this.
This is important.
I need to be worried about this.
If I let this go,
Then bad things are gonna happen.
All that stuff we sometimes think about things that we think are important.
We make ourselves believe they're important.
I want you to think about those things and say,
So what?
And see how it feels.
So,
Take a few minutes.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
So,
How was that?
Was it fun?
Do you feel better after saying,
So what?
I mean,
I hope so.
I really think it's a good thing.
You know what's interesting was I said,
So what after I hiccuped at the beginning?
Because after I hiccuped,
My first thought was,
Oh my God,
I'm gonna hiccup through this whole thing.
It's gonna go bad.
And then I said,
So what?
And then I thought,
Oh well,
We'll see what happens,
You know.
And I haven't hiccuped since.
So,
Plus I feel relief.
Anyway,
I think relief is one of the best feelings in the world.
You know,
Like pain's gonna happen.
There's no way to avoid pain.
Things are gonna hurt sometimes,
Regardless of how many affirmations we say or how much we try to be careful.
It's the nature of being alive.
It's the opposite.
It's the other side of the coin of pleasure,
Right?
So,
That's why so what is so valuable.
Because you know something's gonna hurt.
You can even use it when you're having physical pain,
You know.
Because often I think what happens is we have physical pain and then we think,
Oh my God,
This is gonna last forever.
And we start worrying about it,
You know.
Oh my God,
You know,
All that stuff.
So you recognize something hurts in your body and you go,
So what?
You know,
See how it feels.
I really recommend it.
And I'm excited for you.
I hope that this so what's bringing you,
Making your life a better place to be,
Which is what this is all about.
And so what,
Right?
Enjoyed spending time with you again and take care.
