This is a Nididhyāsana (Sanskrit: निदिध्यासन) practice. Nididhyasana is a profound meditation on the nature of the true self, to realize the identity of Atman and Brahman (Microcosm and Macrocosm). In simple terms 'I' and 'universe' are shown to be one. In jnana yoga or yoga of wisdom, this is given utmost importance. You can do Nivritti Yoga's course, 'Discover Your True Self' to understand the Self and then use this Meditation as a tool to stay with that understanding.

Namaste.

Prepare for the meditation.

As always,

Let's begin in a nice comfortable sitting position of your choice.

Once you are ready,

Softly close your eyes.

With closed eyes,

Explore your body from within.

If you need to,

Adjust your body to make it a bit more comfortable.

Now imagine that in front of your body there is a full length mirror.

Try to see the reflection of your body in the mental mirror.

The reflection is the true reflection of your present physical posture.

Now imagine a mirror on the back side.

A mirror on the right side of the body.

A mirror on the left.

Mirrors on the top and bottom.

From each side,

Body is surrounded by the mirrors.

Develop the visualization of mirrors.

Try to see the reflections of your body as reflected in the mental mirrors.

Gently let go of the mental mirrors and become aware of your body internally.

Notice how your breath is.

Is it fast and shallow?

Or is it deep and slow?

Not controlling or regulating the breath in any way?

Simply be aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

Sitting still,

Relaxed,

Unmoving,

Observing the breath.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

The mind is aware of the natural flow of breath in and out through the body.

Now let go of the awareness of the breath.

Gently bring your attention on the chest.

Mentally say,

I am,

As if you are saying it from within the chest.

And keep the awareness on the inquiry from where this notion of I rises.

After sometime your false self,

That is your mind and intellect,

Will try to take away your attention.

Some thought may rise or some emotion may sprung up.

When this happens,

Just ask yourself,

Who is having this experience?

To whom this thought,

Emotion or experience is rising to?

And try to find from where this experiencer,

This notion of I rises and stay with this inquiry.

You are the only one who is having this experience.

You are the only one who is having this experience.

You are the only one who is having this experience.

Keep quietly alert,

Inquiring into the real nature of the self.

Relax and watch the source of I am.

You are the only one who is having this experience.

Relax and watch the source of I am.

Relax and watch the source of I am.

Relax and watch the source of I am.

Relax and watch the source of I am.

You are the only one who is having this experience.

You are the absolute.

Bereft of any body identity are complete,

Perfect and the unborn.

You never had any birth.

Forms appearing and disappearing is a play of five elements.

Where are you in this and where is the question of your coming and going?

Atman,

The self has no birth.

It is not created like the body.

It is the unborn principle,

The Brahman,

The vast.

Once you realize you are not the body,

Then you are one with the consciousness.

In due course you transcend the consciousness and dwell as the highest.

The fitness of the consciousness is the highest principle,

The absolute.

A realized one having transcended the realm of beingness ever abides in the eternal absolute.

With the fulfillment of Gyan Yoga,

All that which is understood is made unreal.

Go back one day prior to your conception,

Which is the pure state with no needs of anything.

Catch hold of the knowledge I am and in the process the realization occurs.

That I,

The absolute,

Am not the I am.

That I am the I am.

That I am the I am.

That I am the I am.

That I am the I am.

That I am the I am.

Now let go of all the efforts and just be.

You are quiet being.

Do not try to be quiet.

Do not make being quiet into a task to be performed.

There is nothing to practice.

To know yourself,

Be yourself.

Let your true nature emerge.

There is nothing to do.

Just be.

Do nothing.

Be.

You are quiet being.

You are quiet being.

Now slowly come back to the breath.

Notice the sensations in the body.

Be aware of your surroundings.

Noticing the temperature here,

Sounds around you and as you feel ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Before you jump up right now to get on with the things in your life,

For sometimes sit back and appreciate how it feels.

Namaste.
