Find a comfortable position in your bed.
Allow your body to settle naturally.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and softly exhale through your mouth.
And again,
Breathing in calm and breathing out today.
And with every breath,
You begin to arrive more deeply in this moment.
Now bring your awareness to your forehead.
Notice if there is any tension there.
And gently soften the space between your eyebrows.
Let your eyes become heavy in their sockets.
Relaxing the tiny muscles around them.
Your cheeks soften.
Your jaw releases.
And allow your tongue to rest gently in your mouth.
Now feel your neck and imagine warm waves of relaxation slowly flowing down into your shoulders.
Let them drop completely.
And now feel the relaxation flowing down your arms.
Your upper arms.
Elbows.
Forearms.
All the way to your hands.
Your fingers loosen and your palms soften.
Now bring your attention to your chest.
Allow your breath to move naturally.
Like soft waves arriving at the shore.
And with every exhale,
You release just a little more.
Relax your stomach.
Your lower back.
Your hips.
And let your legs become heavy.
Relax your thighs.
Your calves.
And finally your feet.
Your whole body is now resting deeply.
Supported,
Safe and held by the bed beneath you.
Imagine now that you are standing beside a calm lake under the night sky.
The water is perfectly still.
Reflecting the stars above.
The air is warm and peaceful.
And in your hands,
You hold a small lantern.
This lantern contains all the thoughts,
Worries and emotions from today.
Everything you carried.
Everything that felt heavy.
And you don't need to hold on to them anymore.
So gently place the lantern onto the water.
And watch as it slowly floats away.
Drifting farther and further and further and further across the lake.
And with every breath out,
The lantern moves further and further and further away.
And it's taking the day with.
Taking the sensations.
The questions.
The memories.
It is all drifting gently away.
And you are allowed to rest now.
Nothing needs your attention tonight.
And see how the lake becomes wider.
And the lantern smaller and smaller and smaller until it disappears into the soft night.
And in its place,
Only quiet.
Only stillness.
Only peace.
And now imagine a soft staircase made of clouds.
And with every step down,
You move deeper into sleep.
I will count slowly from ten down to one.
And with each number,
Your body relaxes even more.
Ten.
Drifting deeper.
Nine.
Your mind becoming quiet.
Eight.
Your breathing slow and calm.
Seven.
Your body heavy and relaxed.

Thoughts fading into the background.

Floating between waking and sleep.
