Welcome,
My name is Natalie and this Yoga Nidra practice is here to guide you into your own consciousness to explore the underworld and the magic of the unknown that lives within you.
When we look at archetypes and myths such as the archetype of the underworld,
It can help us to better understand our shared humanity and yet honor the diverse ways that we live and make meaning in our own lives.
And so today we'll be exploring some of the darker and more quiet places that live in the consciousness to explore the magic that lives in those spaces and those little whispers that we call the intuition.
So take a moment to let your body settle.
Finding a place of comfort and stillness.
And take any little movements or adjustments that your body needs.
Maybe you give yourself a slower,
More full breath.
As you begin to settle into your place of comfort,
Let your breath become soft,
Easeful,
Natural.
A breath without effort.
Let your eyes soften.
Begin to connect with your physical body.
Feeling how it feels to be present in your own physical body in this moment.
As we begin this practice,
We'll take a few moments to connect to a deeper heart's intention,
Also known as a sankalpa.
If you have one that you like to work with regularly,
You're free to use it.
Otherwise,
I'll offer a few suggestions.
Your sankalpa in this practice may sound something like.
.
.
I trust in my own intuition.
I am building my self-trust.
Or I step into the unknown with a deep sense of trust.
You We'll move through a body scan,
Moving through each side of the body so you can feel the sensation or simply notice each part as we move through following my voice.
Sense the thumb of your right hand.
And moving to your first finger.
Second finger.
Third finger.
And little finger.
Sense the palm of your right hand rest.
Elbow.
Shoulder.
The right side of your chest.
Ribcage.
Moving down the right side of your waist.
Knee.
Ankle Sense the sole of your right foot.
First toe.
2nd toe Third toe.
Fourth toe.
5th toe.
Coming to the left side,
Sense the thumb of your left hand.
First finger.
Second finger.
Third finger.
Little finger.
Sense the palm of your left hand.
Elbow.
Shoulder.
Left side chest ribcage.
The left side of your waist.
Left hip,
Ankle.
Sole of the left foot.
First toe.
Second toe.
Third toe.
Fourth toe.
5th toe.
Now moving side to side,
Sense your right foot.
Sense your left foot.
Right leg.
Left leg.
Right hip.
Left hip.
Sense the right side from your hip up to your shoulder.
And the left side from your hip up to your shoulder.
Right arm.
Left arm.
Right hand,
Fingers,
And thumb.
Left hand,
Fingers,
And thumb.
Now sense the space around your tailbone.
And sensing into the area around that space,
That energy,
Perhaps the subtle flow of your breath.
Slowly start to let your attention flow,
Moving into the space around your pelvis,
Lower back,
Allow your attention to move up slowly.
Filling the space front and back and the sides of your waist.
Coming up slowly to fill the space around and within your ribcage.
Sensing the energetic flow of breath.
And allow your attention to glide up slowly to fill the space in your chest upper back and shoulder blades.
In the center of your throat.
Sensing the front,
Back,
And sides of your neck.
Allow your attention to flow up,
Sensing your jaw.
Cheeks.
Mo.
Nose.
Eyes.
Forehead.
Temple.
Ears.
.
.
The back of your head.
All the way up to the top of your head.
And come back to this flow of breath.
Sensing the breath entering the nose,
Filling your body.
Maybe even the energy of the breath touching the top of your head.
Sense the quality of the difference between the inhale and the exhale.
Notice the cool air as it enters.
And warmer air as it exhales.
Notice the spacious life as the inhale comes in and the gentle sense of surrender as the breath comes out.
As your awareness narrows,
Move closer to the gentle beats in between each breath.
Let your attention move into these spaces,
These little moments of sacred pause between the natural,
Easeful breaths.
As you move into these unknown places within you.
Places that hold big questions,
Mysteries,
Or perhaps even the places that feel numb and disconnected.
Let yourself move into them with ease,
Slowly.
Imagine as you move into these places you carry with you a beacon of light.
Using your own imagination.
Imagine you're walking towards a dark ocean.
In front of you the dark blue water.
And above you,
A dark sky of sparkling stars.
The whole universe around you.
Slowly you walk to the edge of the water.
And you slowly step one foot at a time into this water with trust,
With courage.
With each movement your feet make in the water.
You can see the ripple of the green twinkling lights of the bioluminescence.
The green sparkles and the blue light.
That fill the water with each movement you make.
The clusters of light lighting up around your feet.
As you walk deeper into the water,
You weave light all around you.
This experience helps you to cultivate a deeper sense of wonder and awe within you as you witness this beauty and magic of nature around you.
Helps you to feel trust in these places that are dark,
That are unknown.
You may draw shapes in the water with your hands Watching the response of the water,
The ripples,
And the lights.
Seeing the colors of luminous blue and green with each movement,
With each breath.
You weave a natural magic.
With your hands,
With your feet.
A reminder that light can be found when we walk into the darkest parts of our consciousness.
We can breathe our way into the unknowns.
As you move into these places of the unknown and the underworld that lives within you.
You start to develop a softening presence.
A deeper sense of peace.
And a deep knowing that you belong here.
You belong here.
Allow every part of your being to soften.
To settle.
Allowing the gentle currents of rest to flow through you.
That the images fade,
And with a sense of trust.
Let yourself move slowly into a place of peace.
Rest.
Sleep.
Trust that your body will breathe for you.
Trust that your body will rest and heal.
And trust that you're subconscious.
Holds the answers,
It holds the whispers of wisdom that live within the unknown.
And trust that they will come to you at the right time.
