Standing Sematic Meditation,
Qigong II,
Where we focus on balancing your brain and your chakras.
The ancient Taoist traditions of Qigong,
Taiji,
And Yiquan have much to contribute to the practice of Sematic Meditation.
This standing meditation draws on these Chinese teachings,
Hindu traditions,
And modern neuroscience.
It's based on the principles of alignment,
Relaxation,
Staying loose and doing no more work than necessary,
And allowing the breath to maintain natural mobility of the body.
Remember that Sematic Meditation when standing is more physically difficult than when seated,
So I recommend you follow my guided seated instructions first,
If you've not already done so,
And build your practice time slowly when standing.
Sematic Meditation is based on paying attention to your body in a kind and gentle manner,
So be in a peaceful setting where you won't be disturbed during this time.
Temperature okay,
Clothing loose and comfortable,
And stand with your feet parallel,
Hip width apart,
With your arms at your sides,
The palms facing a little towards the rear,
Legs almost straight with your knees unlocked,
And relax your hip joints and your lower back,
Allowing them to be mobile with the breath,
Then allowing your head to float on your neck as if it's suspended from above.
Your tongue will be lightly touching the roof of your mouth,
Just behind the upper teeth.
Once in this posture,
Breathe up and down the left side of your body.
Feel your body from the inside out,
Inhaling from the soles of the feet,
Sensing each part of your body as your attention rises with the inhale,
And as you exhale,
Allowing any tension or holding to just drop down the body,
Melting and dissolving into the ground beneath your left foot.
And do this on your own for two more breath cycles.
And then bringing your attention to the right side with your breath,
Feeling your body gently and kindly from the inside out.
Inhale from the soles of your right foot,
Sensing each part of your body as your attention rises up the body with the inhale,
And on the exhale,
Allowing any tension or holding to melt and drop down the body,
Dissolving beneath your right foot.
And repeat that for two more complete breath cycles on your own.
And now take one breath cycle to feel and invigorate each chakra.
So inhaling red light through the root area of your coccyx,
Perineum,
And anus,
And exhaling and sending energy into the movement,
Radiance,
Or liveness in this area.
Then inhaling orange light through your whole pelvic area,
Including your sexual organs,
And exhale,
Inject energy into the movement,
The radiance and vitality of this area.
Inhaling yellow light,
Filling your waist,
Belly,
And solar plexus,
Exhaling and sending appreciative energy into the movement and aliveness and radiance in this area.
Inhaling green light through your heart and chest,
And exhale and send appreciative energy to your heart area to charge this chakra.
Inhaling blue light through your neck and throat,
And exhale and send appreciative energy into the movement,
Radiance,
Or aliveness in your throat area.
Inhaling indigo light through your brow and your brain,
Exhaling and sending loving,
Kind energy there to charge this whole area.
And then inhaling violet light through your crown,
Exhaling and flowing energy into the movement,
Radiance,
Or aliveness in your crown.
And inhaling from the root all the way up to your crown,
And exhaling and feeling and imagining all seven chakras,
Radiant and aligned.
Inhale and feel your whole midline,
Exhale feeling and imagining your own internal radiance.
Taking a really deep breath,
Inhaling,
Feeling yourself from the inside out,
And exhaling and release your whole body and mind into pure radiant space.
Inhale deeply feeling whatever is there for you,
Exhaling and allowing your whole body and mind to dissolve into radiant space.
And you can stand for as long as you like,
Or you might come gently back to your day now,
Enjoying how you're feeling.
And remember,
After a session of standing meditation,
It's always a good idea to just walk around a little bit.
Move your body.
