You know,

There is much more good than bad in this world.

Much more love than hate than evil.

I honestly believe that.

Whether it's a stereotypical boy helping an older lady cross the street,

Or as simple as a kind compliment to a coworker.

I think most people are inherently gentle.

Authentically caring.

You know,

I also wonder if many of us,

Myself included,

Are stuck in a never-ending feeling cycle of pessimism and bad vibes from news companies who profit off of fear and from social media posts that mirror venting diary entries more than genuine day-to-day life.

I catch myself in that pattern often when I'm having a bad day.

I turn to social media to let one rip,

Or to my news app to read about shootings and starvation.

And yes,

Let me be crystal clear.

I will not and cannot take away anyone's suffering.

So much of this planet and its inhabitants,

Both human and animal and also plant,

Are experiencing right now a type of pain on a level I cannot fathom.

But let me also be clear in saying that it is within my heart of hearts that I suggest that there is still more love,

Still more healing,

Still more care right now in our world here than there will ever be pain.

So don't listen to the news or Facebook or that cynic in the back of your mind.

Find things to be grateful for.

Find the helpers.

Be the helper.

Be kind.

Love like crazy.

And as hard as it may be at times,

Look for the silver lightnings.

Find the positives.

You are loved and I am so glad you are here.
