Welcome to this Working Mama guided meditation.
Whether this is your first day or week back from maternity leave,
Or whether you're five years into this Working Mama gig,
Getting your head in the right place at the beginning of the day can be a struggle.
Use this meditation first thing in the morning when you wake up,
Perhaps after you've locked yourself in the bathroom for a few minutes to shower,
Or as soon as you get to the office and you're alone.
Sit or lay down in a comfortable position.
Allow your eyes to close and your entire body to soften.
Start to take slow,
Deep breaths,
Deep into your belly,
That beautiful belly that birthed life.
Sink into the feeling of stillness and smile at this glorious moment of doing nothing,
Absolutely nothing.
This moment of being alone,
Of doing the most important thing you can do as a human being,
Breathing,
Simply being.
If you find yourself worrying about something,
Or thinking of what you need to do in a few minutes or later today,
Just smile at it.
Tell it you'll be there in a minute or two or three,
And trust that it can wait.
For now,
This moment is for you.
Feel or imagine the sun streaming into the room and its heat on your cheeks.
Imagine the warmth and the soft skin of your little one,
Nozzled up close to you.
Imagine pride swelling in your heart when you make a contribution at work.
Imagine the embrace of your partner on a Friday evening.
Imagine the reassuring sound of your best friend's voice on the phone.
These things are real,
Mama.
They're all real for you.
You haven't simply imagined a world where you have a precious little one,
Meaningful relationships,
And a rewarding career that helps you provide for your beloved family.
You are living it,
Every day,
One baby step at a time.
Sit with that.
Savor that.
Be with that.
Now,
Gift yourself these affirmations.
They're a gift that will allow you to live as the fullest expression of yourself today,
At work,
At home,
And everywhere in between.
Say to yourself,
I am.
I created life.
Each day,
I do the best I can.
I give my all.
I am an amazing parent.
I am an amazing contributor to my work.
I am enough.
Now take another deep breath,
Deep into your belly,
That beautiful belly that birthed life.
And slowly open your eyes to continue your day.
