When you are diagnosed with cancer, the emotions that flood over you are endless. They can feel heavy. They can also feel forced. This meditation is a gentle reminder that you are not the emotion, but instead that you can safely allow emotions to pass through you with the use of your breath.

This is a meditation for anyone who feels they're currently suffering with difficult emotions.

Want you to find yourself either seated or lying in a comfortable,

Safe place where you can turn inward for the next five minutes or so.

Gently find a place of stillness and calm and when you feel ready,

Close your eyes.

Start by just feeling your natural breath flow in through the nose and gently let it out of the nose or mouth,

Whichever feels best for you today.

And we'll not force the breath today but just allow a natural rise and fall of our chest,

Maybe into our bellies,

And slowly let it continue to release with the exhale.

Focus our mind on the breath.

Try to quiet the noise or the thoughts that inevitably will come and realize that these thoughts,

These difficult and big emotions or visions that run through your mind are far too often just that.

They're stories.

They're not truth.

They're typically fear or concern that you allow to grow.

Again,

Take a breath.

Gently exhale and know that where your intention goes,

Energy flows.

Reflect and ask yourself,

Is this emotion that I'm struggling with really true?

Are you putting yourself through this heart emotion instead of letting your current reality guide you to your strengths?

As you sit with yourself,

Feel grounded to the floor,

To the chair,

To the seat or earth beneath you.

Recognize that here you are safe.

Breathe into this feeling and allow it to rush over you with a sense of peace and warmth.

Emotions such as despair or fear are the body's way of recognizing something is out of alignment.

Use this as power.

Change the emotion as you experience it and realize your mind,

Your body and your soul are more than that one emotion in that moment of time.

Bring your focus back to your breath.

Focus back on the rise and fall of your chest.

Bring back the warmth and the peace to your body and soul.

You are a human being.

This means be in,

Sit with and feel what your mind,

Body are experiencing.

The goal here is not to force yourself to feel a certain way,

Happy,

Angry,

Joyful,

More so for you to recognize you have the power to allow motions to flow both in and out of you using your breath as your guide.

Each moment is a new free opportunity to move forward,

To release or be still.

Whatever your mind,

Body and soul are needing in this very second,

Remember when emotions feel too heavy,

Pause and know that no one emotion is ever permanent.

Just as your breath moves through you,

So too will these emotions.

Take another breath in and a slow breath out.

Remember that your body hears what your mind is saying.

Today in moments of overwhelm,

Fear or sorrow,

Have your mind focused on what is true and real.

You are here today.

You are present and safe.

Focus your body on its own ability.

You are capable of moving air in and out of your lungs.

Focus your soul on the power of something bigger than you.

You are in this world for a purpose.

Your mind,

Body and spirit are in alignment,

Ready to provide healing,

Comfort and release from any suffering you are experiencing.

Take another breath in.

Slowly let it out.

Do this one more time.

Deep breath in.

And slowly let it out.

When you feel ready,

Go ahead and open your eyes,

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Feel the peace that you've now created.

So peace inducing, especially at 3:00 a.m. when the hamster-wheel in your brain starts up with the ‘what if’s’
