Hello,
I'm Reverend Samira and this is a meditation for balancing your root chakra.
Ancient traditions referred to the life force that animates us by different names.
In Sanskrit,
The Ayurvedic tradition is known as prana,
The life force or vital energy that permeates the body and is especially concentrated along the midline in centers known as chakras.
In Chinese,
It's called qi.
This most basic substance,
This vital energy,
Is the cause of most of our physiological processes and the proper balance of this energy is needed for optimal health.
Today we are working with the root chakra,
Located at the base of your spine just beneath your tailbone.
This is a center that is responsible for supporting you in feeling connected,
Grounded,
Balanced,
Secure,
Stable,
Safe.
As if you have a firm foundation,
Trusting and feeling held by the earth.
In Sanskrit,
It's known as muladhara.
Mula meaning root and adhara meaning base or support.
So begin to find a comfortable position for this meditation,
Perhaps sitting with your shoulders back and your spine straight.
Moving your body into the most comfortable position for you in this moment.
Begin to relax all of your muscles and settle in.
Close your eyes if you feel comfortable and begin to allow yourself to breathe deeply.
Inhaling through your nose,
Pulling the breath as far down as possible into your body and exhaling through your mouth.
With each breath,
Extend the exhale a bit to pause and rest before beginning your next inhale.
Using your breath,
Begin to shift your attention from your external world to your internal world.
Breathing in and out,
Begin to focus now at the base of your spine.
Begin to focus now at the base of your spine,
Just beneath your tailbone.
Notice if there is any tightness or tension in this area.
If you are holding tension,
Allow your breath to move and relax,
Creating a little bit of space in this area with each breath.
Since the root chakra is symbolized by the color red,
Begin to imagine a red flow of energy at the base of your spine.
Imagine it moving down and out of your body,
Deep into roots in the earth.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Feel that energy begin to cleanse and clear this root chakra center.
Imagine yourself releasing anything that is ready to be released,
Simply allowing it to move down those roots,
Feeling that red flow of energy carrying it away deeper and deeper into the earth.
The earth is absorbing all of the unwanted energy,
Holding it,
Transmuting it.
As you release it fully into that red stream of energy moving deep into the center of the earth,
That red flow of energy is grounding and balancing,
Rooting and connecting,
Feeling a sense of safety and security,
As if you have a strong,
Rooted foundation,
Feeling completely held and supported by the earth.
Now begin to see that energy circulating in a wheel motion at the bottom of your spine.
Continue feeling and breathing as this wheel begins to expand and grow,
Widen,
Expand out,
Turning in that red,
Grounding,
Clearing energy,
The entire area at the base of your spine,
Beginning to feel warm and relaxed,
Secure and grounded,
Centered and balanced.
Now rest in that warm,
Relaxed sensation for a few moments as you focus on this wheel of red circulating energy,
Knowing as you continue to breathe and to feel this energy center,
This root chakra is brighter,
Clearer,
More vibrant,
More grounded and secure with each breath.
Now as you begin to release this meditation,
Begin to draw your attention back to your body,
Slowly moving your fingers and toes,
Slowly returning your awareness to the room around you,
Knowing that you can return to this meditation whenever you feel the need for a greater sense of centeredness,
Groundedness,
Security,
Safety,
Or even for grounding and clearing energy that is no longer needed,
Becoming fully alert,
Opening your eyes when you are ready.
So you no you
