Finding a comfortable seated position,
Allowing yourself to sit tall but not rigid,
And let your face turn slightly upward.
Let your palms rest open on the thighs,
Gently cupping,
Facing upward.
Close your eyes and start to draw your attention to the rain.
Noticing repetitive sound,
Maybe imagining the temperature,
The moisture in the air,
Maybe recognizing a damp,
Crisp,
Refreshing scent.
With awareness of the rain surrounding you,
Start to consider the properties of water,
Recognizing that it can be life-giving,
Thirst-quenching,
Refreshing,
And full of opportunity.
Water can also be cleansing,
A washing or rinsing away to provide a clearer and cleaner view.
Drawing your attention back to the rain,
Start to visualize the individual drops.
And to imagine them landing,
Collecting in your cupped palm,
Creating small pools of water.
Each drop that lands in the left palm is a life-giving drop,
Refreshing,
Exciting,
Thirst-quenching.
Each drop that lands in the right palm is cleansing,
Washing away anything that doesn't serve you or may be holding you back.
Allow the drops to collect here without judgment,
Critique,
Or way.
Just hold and be present with these pools of water,
Recognizing each drop is part of the whole,
Together refreshing and cleansing.
Allow your attention to naturally shift from palm to palm as the pools collect with your thoughts.
With the two pools of water,
Start to bring your cupped hands together,
Joining at the heart.
And imagine releasing these pools,
Letting them wash over you,
All the clearing,
All the cleansing,
Releasing an opportunity,
Coming together and flowing into one,
Equally a part of you.
Lightly press your palms together.
Let yourself be here,
Again bringing your attention to the rain.
Without judgment,
Critique,
Or even expectation,
Notice how you feel.
Maybe even lifting the sternum more to meet the thumb.
Being present with any sensations you're feeling,
Allowing yourself to be rejuvenated and whole.
Begin to bring your attention back to your breath.
Taking a few deep breaths,
Starting to draw your awareness back into the space,
Noticing your body could allow the hands to again come to rest on the thigh,
Gently bowing the head,
Eventually letting the eyes start to flicker open and returning to the present moment.
