Settling into a space for meditation,
Seated or lying down,
You encourage your body to soften and relax.
Maybe unclenching your jaw,
Letting your tongue float,
And we begin to notice the sensation of breath.
Not trying to force or change anything here,
Just noticing where you feel your breath in your body.
Maybe sensation in your nostrils,
Face,
And jaw.
Noticing where you feel your breath in your torso,
Your chest,
Back,
Or belly.
You could even rest your hands there to feel the rise and fall.
Not trying to change or force your breath.
Noticing the temperature of your breath.
If it's different,
Inhales and exhales.
Noticing the texture of your breath.
Spaces that are smooth or strained.
No right or wrong,
Just aware of the breath entering your nostrils,
Traveling down throat,
Expanding lungs,
And the exhale traveling up and back out.
Continue to stay aware of your breath.
It may become softer,
Slower,
And you can allow that to happen.
