Michelle, your pup story arrived just as my sweet boy Brian passed on the 13th, at home with us giving him kisses & stroking his fur. He would have been 15 in September. Brian, named after Family Guy cartoon white dog, was quite the character! His jaunty walk to the kitchen in search of food after hearing the clink of plates. As a pup, he would carry his empty water bowl into the livingroom and drop it at our feet. He loved to play in his water bowl and would leave a puddle on the kitchen floor. We found he loved water so much that he would jump off the dock after my husband when he went swimming. My husband made a ramp for him to go in & out as he wanted. We also found he enjoyed going for tin boat rides & Seadoo rides. He would howl if daddy left him behind. His voracious appetite was legendary that he would vacuum his meal so fast, then hover over our other two Bichon-Poodle dogs to see if they would leave him something. Sadly he started to loose his appetite and then this cubby tummy. The vet confirmed that he was ill, and we should just keep him comfortable. On his last day I prepared the other two dogs to go for a walk & Brian got off the couch & sat in front of the door. Obviously he was demanding to be included despite being weak. So off we went and he breathed the cool crisp air, licked the snow & smelled the scent of other dogs. After just 4 houses my husband carried him back home as he was tired & shivering. Later that day he was labouring to breathe & restless. I was rubbing his ears & belly, whispering he was a good sweet boy. He got restless and wanted to jump down. So I laid on the floor with him, cuddling him as he breathed his last breath. You are so right about relationships with our pets. They are so special and it is heartbreaking 💔 to lose them. I love this dog story. I didn’t want another dog after losing my Standard Poodle 2 years ago & a friend kept calling me to take a little mini Poodle that needed a home. Everything in this story with the pup is now my once again happy and playful home. I am so glad to be spending my first Valentine’s Day with her.
