Fall Asleep Fast,
The Waves of Sleep.
If you have been struggling with falling asleep,
Let the words of this practice greet you like a cozy blanket fresh from the dryer.
Your body has no choice but to surrender in the comfy healing moments about to unfold in this sleepy practice.
Trust yourself as you remember that deep down,
Your body knows how to self-soothe and meet its needs.
And each visualization throughout this journey will serve to help you reconnect with your innate sleepy powers.
The more you listen,
The more your sleep cycle may improve as you remember how to slow down and give in to the gentle,
Persistent tug of sleep.
I would like to welcome you to Michelle's Meditation Sanctuary.
I am Michelle,
Your guide on this journey.
I invite you to think of me as a nurturing ally and supporter of you.
I have your best interests in mind.
But even as I guide you,
I know that you know what you need more than anyone.

You may fall asleep whenever you like.
You are the architect,
The dreamer,
And the visionary for everything that unfolds.
Your comfort in this moment is the greatest priority.
You may already be as relaxed as you can get,
Or you may wish to find more comfort and ease.
So let's take this time to gauge where you are at.
Visualize a meter,
Or perhaps a scale,
That rates your current level of relaxation from 100 down to 0,
With 0 being the deepest your relaxation may go.
This measuring device may be any shape or style that you prefer,
Digital or analog,
Whimsical or basic.
Throughout our journey,
It may even transform,
As you will check in a few more times to gauge your progress.
But right now,
Make a mental note of where you're at.
See the number and accept it as it is.
No pressure,
No doubt,
Just an easy understanding as you honor your authentic presence.
And as you come to recognize your current state of being,
Pay attention to all the items in the sanctuary of your room that offer you comfort.
Your mind can't help but gravitate to every soft element to be found.
Revel in your bedding.
Your blanket is more than a source of comfort and warmth.
It creates a layer of protection between you and the outside world,
Creating a soothing cocoon where fears and anxieties do not stand a chance.
Feel the safety,
Feel the serenity,
Sense the meter dialing down,
Down,
Down,
As you become even more relaxed.
Notice the softness of your belly as it rises and falls with each breath.
Each breath will bring you closer to that wonderful state of total bliss and relaxation.
Knowing this makes you look forward to each breath as your focus turns to your breathing now.
Clear the air with a sigh,
Sending out into the universe all the intrusive thoughts or ideas that could get in the way of your pathway to bliss.
Allow your breath to take on the qualities of a comforting blanket.
Each inhale wraps you in the softest,
Fluffiest duvet,
Fresh from the dryer,
Still warm against your skin.
With every breath in,
Imagine the blanket embracing you tighter,
Soothing your nerves and relaxing your muscles.
As you exhale,
Picture that same blanket loosening,
Offering space for you to stretch and claim all the room you desire as you sink deeper into your bed.
Each round of conscious breathing becomes an expression of your ability to self-soothe,
To tend to your body,
Mind,
And spirit with tenderness.
There are so many things beyond our control but revel in the wonderful ability you have to control this time every night before sleep.
You are the architect of your dreams,
The weaver of thoughts that will set you out on your journey to sleep.
Every breath is a reminder of the power you have to take control,
To turn the relaxation dial down lower,
Edging closer to complete and total relaxation.
Let's deepen this connection by adding a gentle audible sigh on your next exhale.
Slowly breathe in through your nose,
Filling your lungs with calm,
Letting that inhale reach every corner of your being.
You can even visualize messages of peace being sent on oxygen molecules that travel to every part of your body.
As you exhale,
Let out a soft audible sigh,
Releasing any remaining tension as the sound of your voice sends all your concerns into the infinite universe.
It's the sound of relief and surrender.
Imagine that sigh as a weight slipping off your shoulders,
Like removing a heavy coat after a long day.
Inhale deeply,
And when you're ready to exhale,
Take yourself a little further.
As your mouth opens wide,
Inviting a yawn to spill out.
This yawn signals to your body that sleep is welcome at any time.
It feels as comforting as pulling on a pair of fuzzy protective socks warmed on a radiator as you come in from the cold.
This kind of comfort waits for you each night,
Hoping you let it in.
It's always there for you,
In the sanctuary of your room and mind,
Helping you drift to restorative sleep.
Continue a few more rounds as you inhale,
Yawn,
And sigh at your preferred rhythm and pace,
Knowing that each round draws you closer to the deep,
Rejuvenating slumber you so very much deserve.
With each breath,
Feel your bedding as it acts like a fabric of relaxation,
Weaving around you with protection.
With each inhalation through your nose,
The air becomes warm.
And before arriving in your throat and lungs,
Becoming like the first sip of freshly brewed tea on a chilly evening,
Soothing and comforting.
Each yawn serves to untangle knots of tension in the fibers of your muscles and nerves,
Imploring them to surrender to sleep.
Each exhale casts away everything that gets in the way of your bliss.
The day's stress,
Worries,
And tension all dissolving with that audible sigh.
Imagine the gentle weight of a quilt pressing down on you,
Grounding you in safety,
Warmth,
And stillness.
The weight is reassuring.
A hug from your neck to your toes,
Making it easy to feel safe and tended to.
Surrender,
Feel yourself letting go even further.
And sink deeper into the sense of trust the self-made cocoon evokes.
On your last round of conscious breathing,
Yawning and sighing,
You send the message to every part of your body that it is okay to go to sleep.
Imagine yourself untethered to concerns,
Floating against the backdrop of a night sky,
Landing softly atop a blanket,
Fluffy and fresh,
Floating across the stars like sinking into a cloud.
It rises around you and you bundle yourself within the starry indigo blue sky.
You look around at the celestial expanse,
Knowing like all the souls throughout time who found rest in the night,
You are open to deep,
Healing sleep.
It arrives in gentle waves washing over you,
Soothing you,
As your breath resumes a natural sleepy rhythm on its own.
Feel the warm waves of sleep at first gliding over your toes and inching up your shins.
Gentle and delicate,
Your knees and legs are now kissed by these dreamy waves.
You feel their energy permeating your tired,
Heavy body.
They penetrate through your muscles,
Bringing a bone-deep sense of comfort and tiredness.
The water is perfect,
Not too warm,
Not too cool,
Just the right temperature to lull you into deeper rest.
As it glides in,
Inching up your shins like a soft,
Velvety touch,
You can feel the soothing rhythm of these waves,
Like the slow,
Rolling tides of a tranquil sea.
Each wave brings with it a new layer of relaxation,
Sinking deeper into your skin,
Into your bones,
Into the very core of your being.
As the waves come up,
Still caressing your knees and legs,
A sense of serenity flows with them.
It's as if the tiredness you've been carrying throughout the day is dissolving into these waves,

Or maybe they are liquid indigo and deep purple,
Ushering you into their comforting richness.
Let yourself become weightless,
Surrendering to the tide as you float effortlessly.
In this delicate suspension between wakefulness and sleep,
There is nothing to do but feel good.
To know you are in a safe,
Loving place.
The sacred time is where your dreams begin,
Where your daytime wishes transpire into realized visions that appeal to your innermost desires.
Feel the waves flowing over your torso as they trace the length of your spine,

Every muscle,

Every inch of your body welcomes the call of this dreamy sea of sleep.
The waves of sleep rise higher,
Cradling your chest,
Flowing up to your shoulders,
And soothing the space where tension tends to gather.
Your shoulder blades separate,
And there's an openness as you see the space now between them,
And the weight of the world that you were never supposed to carry lifts off your shoulders,
Carried away on incoming waves of sleep.
With each breath,
You're drawn closer to sleep.
The gentle tug becomes irresistible.
It invites you to give in,
Bringing a heady,
Yet content sensation that tingles from your scalp,
All the way down your spine,
To the soles of your feet,

You don't fight it.

Your arms sink heavily into the support beneath you,

As the sleepy waves reach your neck and rise to gently lap at your cheeks and forehead,

The day fades away as you welcome the sound of these calm,
Rhythmic waves.
You are being pulled deeper into a dreamscape of your own design.
