And so I'd just like you to take a moment to settle in and make yourself nice and comfortable.

Find a position where your body feels fully supported,

However feels most natural to you.

Just settle in and allow yourself to begin to relax deeply,

Feeling completely at ease.

Notice how your head is resting on the pillow,

Allowing the pillow to take full weight of your head.

And as you become aware of the support beneath your head,

You can allow all those muscles that hold your head up to relax.

Allow your eyes to close and feel your scalp softening.

Feel your forehead smoothing out,

Eyelids becoming heavy,

Cheeks relaxed,

Jaw nice and loose.

There's no need to hold any tension in your face or your neck.

Your shoulders can drop easily,

Feeling any tension just melting away.

Down your arms,

Elbows heavy,

Forearms resting,

Wrists loose.

Hands gently open,

Your palms feeling soft,

Your fingers completely still and relaxed.

Just allow your breathing to begin to naturally slow down,

Your chest rising gently and then falling,

Your stomach feeling soft and relaxed.

Just notice how each out breath feels a little longer and a little easier.

Your back is fully supported,

Your lower back sinking down,

Your hips feeling heavy as your pelvis settles down.

You can just allow any tension to just melt away as your legs grow heavier,

Thighs relaxing down into the ground.

Knees softening,

Calves loosening,

Ankles feeling relaxed,

Your feet feel grounded,

Even your toes are completely at rest.

Every part of your body just feeling pleasantly heavy,

Fully supported and fully at peace.

As you continue to breathe gently,

You can allow this feeling of relaxation to spread even further.

From the top of your head all the way down,

Down through your body,

Down to your toes.

Just letting go more and more with every breath.

As this is your time to rest,

No effort is needed and there is nothing to do except relax and listen.

Just drifting comfortably as every word I speak helps you relax even deeper.

Every breath taking you down a little further into this peaceful state.

You can allow your mind to relax and if you find yourself drifting and dreaming then that's fine too.

You don't need to hold on to my words,

So if my voice fades into the background just allow it to go.

It'll come back if needed but your subconscious will continue to hear every word I say.

And now while you rest so comfortably,

You can allow yourself to picture a beautiful ancient forest surrounded by a quiet meadow on a warm and summer day.

Ahead of you lies a path towards that beautiful forest,

So just let that image appear in your mind now.

You're standing at the start of a soft and winding path down through this beautiful forest.

The air is warm and gentle and everything is feeling quiet and safe.

You begin to walk slowly down the path,

Every step is easy and relaxed and with every step down you notice that something relaxes you still further.

Perhaps the soft grass beneath your feet,

Or the gentle breeze on your skin,

The distant sound of water,

Or birds singing in the treetops.

Every step just takes you down deeper into relaxation.

And as you walk further down the path,

You see beautiful wildflowers,

Colours soft and calming,

Their scent drifting gently,

And with each step you're feeling more relaxed,

More at peace.

The path winds gently downwards and you notice the warm sun filtering through the trees,

The branches gently softening the sunlight.

The warmth soothing your skin as each step down brings a deeper calm and a deeper tranquility.

Further down the path now,

You can hear the birds singing softly in the treetops,

The leaves rustling gently in the breeze,

And everything is peaceful.

And with every step your mind becomes quieter,

Your body becomes heavier,

Feeling more relaxed with every step.

As you continue on down and down the path,

Noticing the gentle slope and the beautiful views up ahead,

Everything is just calm and perfect.

Each step taking you deeper into this wonderful feeling of relaxation,

Feeling so safe and so comfortable.

As you continue walking down this beautiful path,

Feeling completely at ease,

Your mind drifting,

Your body resting,

Feeling deeper and deeper with every step.

And just when you think you couldn't be any more relaxed,

Any more at peace,

You find five small wooden steps leading down to a beautiful grassy clearing.

And with every step down,

Your body and mind become twice as peaceful,

Twice as relaxed.

You take that first step,

Five,

Moving down deeper into peace.

Four,

Your mind calmer as everything just begins to drift.

Three,

Deeper down into stillness.

Two,

Feeling so very relaxed.

One,

Completely at peace.

Nine,

It's quiet,

Your body is resting.

Whilst you're resting so comfortably now,

I'd like you to allow a gentle picture to form in your mind.

I'd like to picture a powerful familiar car parked at the top of a beautiful mountain road on a perfectly clear day.

Just let that picture appear in your mind now.

You're sitting in the car and the seat feels comfortable and familiar.

You feel confident.

The controls are familiar to you.

And you know just what to do and just have to do it.

Looking down from the summit of that hill.

And ahead of you,

There are two possible roads.

One is a long and winding mountain road,

Full of gentle curves and breathtaking scenery.

With hours of enjoyable driving,

There's time to take in every view,

To enjoy every twist and turn,

Feeling completely in control.

Savouring the pleasure of the journey at your own relaxed pace.

And the other road is a direct straight road that cuts right to the bottom.

It's much faster,

But it's flat and featureless.

There are no curves to enjoy,

No scenery to take in.

There's no time to enjoy the feelings.

No need for control.

Just a straightforward arrival with none of the rich extended pleasure of the winding road.

And as you picture those two roads ahead of you,

You realise that due to circumstances,

That you have gotten used to that straight road.

Heading straight to the end,

Never getting the chance to enjoy the curves of views of the mountain road.

You have become used to rushing down the hill in moments.

Missing all of the beauty and enjoyment of the longer curving road.

Arriving far too soon,

When that mountain road could have been savoured fully.

And there's a reason for imagining this.

Because the natural rhythm of intimacy is very much like choosing that mountain journey.

Your body and mind have always known the winding,

Enjoyable path that feels perfectly right.

Full of gentle curves and rich sensation.

Taking time to soak in every detail.

Savouring the beautiful feeling of connecting with your partner.

Especially in those relaxed moments,

When you aren't worried or overthinking.

And yet,

Without meaning to,

You have often shifted to that straight,

Rapid road.

Especially in more intense moments like entry or the feeling of all the warmth.

On this road,

The car rushes to the end in seconds.

Bypassing all the curves and scenery.

Shortening the pleasure,

When it could have been enjoyed much longer.

That quick arrival has caused frustration.

Missing the full,

Controlled enjoyment of the winding mountain road.

So let's see how simply this can change.

Let's return to that picture now and allow ourselves a gentle choice.

Picture the same car at the top of the mountain once again.

But this time notice how the seat holds you perfectly.

How in control you feel.

Feel the vibration and potential of the engine as you feel the throttle beneath your foot.

Poised and at your command.

And this time,

Notice how calmly you choose the winding mountain road.

Feeling at ease with the curves,

Ready to enjoy every turn,

Every view.

Now watch as the car moves forward and feel how it responds.

This time,

And every time from now on,

You stay on the beautiful winding road.

Taking each curve smoothly.

The power is steady and controlled.

Enjoying the intensity of every twist,

Every stretch of scenery.

If the urge to turn onto the straight,

Faster road returns,

You'll simply ease off the throttle,

Breathe and turn back onto the mountain pass.

Allowing yourself to regain control and allow the journey to last naturally longer.

Full of pleasure and control.

The speed and intensity building exactly when the moment feels right.

When you feel ready.

Until you're deeply satisfied and complete.

This calm,

Simple choice to stay on the winding road has made all the difference.

You realise that no struggle or worry is needed.

You can simply allow that relaxed preference for the winding road to grow.

And that enjoyable extended journey to become natural once again.

And you can do this quite easily.

Resting here now.

Allow yourself to realise something important.

Realise it clearly and accept it fully.

That the purpose of intimacy is to enjoy the full winding journey with all its curves and beauty.

The choice of road is yours to make.

And the feeling of calm control belongs to you.

Your extended pleasure is completely natural.

No old habits have any right to make you take the straight road and to shorten the drive.

You are fully capable of making the choice to slow down and stay in control during moments of intensity.

Your natural desire to enjoy the mountain road is important.

And it's worth savouring.

You can do this with a calm confidence already within you.

The choice to take the winding road may have been lost for a while.

But the way back is clear to you now.

The ability to make that choice is yours.

And allow it to become the natural choice once again.
