Hello!

Today we're going to celebrate the spring equinox.

If you are living in the northern hemisphere,

Today is the beginning of the spring season.

But if you're in the southern hemisphere,

Today would be the beginning of the autumn season.

Regardless of which hemisphere you're in,

On this day we enter into the start of a new astrological year.

And on this day,

Neither hemisphere is tilted more or toward the Sun than any other,

So they receive roughly the equal amounts of sunlight,

And the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world.

In fact,

The word equinox comes from the Latin words meaning equal night.

So after the spring equinox passes,

The north will experience more daylight than darkness in every 24-hour period.

The amount of daylight that each day will continue to increase until the summer solstice in June,

When we have the longest period of daylight that occurs.

I'm Melissa and I will be your guide for this meditation.

Today I invite you to celebrate the season of spring with me.

Find a comfortable position so that you begin to drop into your body.

Invite in a few deep cleansing breaths,

Breathing in through your nose,

Filling your belly and your lungs with fresh air,

And exhaling slowly through your mouth.

Repeat this a few times,

Perhaps inviting in a sigh with your exhale,

Breathing in deeply through your nose,

And letting go as you breathe out.

Allowing yourself to fully relax,

And let go of any tension or stress that you might be feeling in your body.

Soften your shoulders away from your ears.

Let the muscles in your face settle.

Soften and relax your jaw.

Perhaps notice where and how you are connected to the earth beneath you.

You might want to drop your gaze or close your eyes so that you can drop a little deeper into your awareness.

Let's do a simple check- in and ask,

How am I feeling today?

What physical sensations are you feeling in your body?

What are the thoughts that are present in your mind?

On a scale of 1 to 10,

How would you rate your energy level?

Is there anything that you need in this moment to make yourself a little bit more comfortable?

We are coming out of the season of winter,

Which is a time of hibernation,

Turning in,

Restoration.

Spring is about creation.

The energy all around us begins to spring into action.

Spring welcomes new beginnings.

It is a time of rebirth,

Renewal,

And growth.

It is a time to celebrate the return of longer days and warmer weather.

Spring is nature's way of saying,

Wake up,

Let there be light.

The sun begins to warm the earth in places that have been cold.

Snow and ice begin to melt away.

Rivers and streams begin to flow again.

We might notice the grass and flowers poking up from the soil.

We might see small buds appearing on the bare tree limbs.

Maybe you'll hear the birds chirping with a little bit more joy as they begin to build nests where they will hatch their eggs.

Butterflies begin to emerge from their cocoons.

Things begin to come alive.

Each new season brings with it its own energy,

And spring has a very heavy manifestation energy.

Spring is the time when we plant seeds.

What you plant is what you will grow.

If you plant apple seeds,

You cannot expect oranges to grow,

And this is very true for our thoughts and intentions as well.

It's hard to grow a life of positivity and abundance if you are always planting seeds of negativity.

So take a moment to consider what seeds are you planting right now?

Do you focus on negativity and judgment?

Do you spend your time worrying,

Fixated on problems to solve or situations to control?

Or do you gravitate towards thoughts of gratitude,

Compassion,

And acceptance for what is?

Do you take the time to smile at strangers just to see them smile back at you?

Do you participate in random acts of kindness like holding the door open or sending a thank-you card?

This is a time to celebrate the light and the freshness of your life.

Believe in your ability to manifest change.

Believe in your ability to create balance and harmony in your own life.

Whether you choose to celebrate the spring equinox through rituals and traditions,

Or simply by enjoying the warmer weather and longer days,

It is a time to embrace the renewal of nature and the opportunities for growth and transformation in our own lives.

I invite you to do something symbolic to honor this time in your life.

Perhaps light a candle,

Say a blessing for your life,

Give thanks and appreciation for the life force energy in your body,

Your breath.

I challenge you to go outside in the same place at the same time or as close as possible for five to ten minutes for each day for this next month or two and just watch and notice spring emerge as it becomes alive around you.

Take in the sounds,

The smells,

And notice the subtle shifts day by day.

Celebrate the season with some movement.

Go outside and dig in the dirt.

Paint a clay pot and plant a flower in it.

Do a cleanse of your home and purge anything that makes you feel off balance.

Find a creative way to honor spring in your life.

The air is warm and the sun is shining down on you,

Filling you with warmth and energy.

As we bring this meditation to a close,

I invite you to bring your awareness back to your breath,

Taking a slow deep inhale and then exhaling with a sigh.

Gently open your eyes and welcome in a little movement,

Wiggling the fingers and the toes,

Allowing yourself to emerge from your own meditation cocoon.

Emerge with wonder,

Curiosity,

And excitement.

Emerge with enough warmth in your heart to spread and plant seeds of kindness everywhere you go today.

Happy Spring Equinox.

Cheers to warmer,

Brighter days ahead.

Thank you for meditating with me.

I hope you have the most wonderful day.
