Self-Reflection And Inner Wisdom
by Meg Wert
A mindfulness meditation session, inviting participants to focus on their breath and bring awareness to their body without judgment, and gradually expand their awareness outward. Then, acknowledge the part of yourself that already holds wisdom and knows how to navigate the experience. From here, they visualize writing surfaces and explore self-reflection questions. Throughout the session, Meg emphasizes the importance of breath awareness, gratitude, and being centered, concluding with an invitation to maintain communication with their inner wisdom and gradually return to the present moment.

And please come on in figuratively,
Settle in,
Make yourself comfortable,
Whatever that feels and looks like to you.
Go ahead and bring your awareness to your breath and if comfortable in through the nose and out through the nose or mouth.
And bringing your awareness right to your breath is not looking to change it but to be with it and observe.
And just notice if it's staying the same or if it's slowing down.
And what's happening to your body as you bring your total focus to be with your breath?
And in this next cycle of breath,
I invite you just to drop right into your center.
Really bringing your complete presence right into you.
It may resonate if you think of it as your chest,
Your heart chakra,
Your body right in the trunk.
And allow everything else just to figuratively fall away and just be with you in your center landed with your breath.
And as you're sitting here,
I invite you to expand your awareness almost as if there is an invisible circle around you and you're just allowing it to become a little bit bigger,
Pushing outward and having a little more space around your body.
And just continue with the breath.
And allow yourself just to feel comfortable.
Almost like you just are observing your body and how it's feeling and what's going on without any judgment and just a little curious.
And as you sit here,
I invite you to bring forward another part of your being that is the part of you that already knows how to do this,
The part of you that holds the wisdom that's almost like an aspect of you who knows what's going to happen,
May have in a different realm already experienced it.
Some people will refer to that as the gut,
But it's the part of you that already knows how to do this.
Just give a nod to that part.
Again,
Bring your awareness to the breath.
And now I invite you right back into that heart center,
Bringing your hands,
Palms together if it's comfortable for you or open palms up right in front of that heart chakra.
Really feeling that you have dropped down into the center.
And now you can relax your hands and ask yourself,
What is it I need to explore today?
And continuing with your breath,
Imagine that you,
Where you are,
That there is a writing surface in front of you.
And you can pick up that pen or pencil,
Whatever it is,
And a piece of paper.
It's just perfect.
It's not too big.
It's not too small.
There's actually three pieces.
But I ask you to take hold of one,
Bring it forward,
And bring the writing implement.
I'm breathing in and out from the center place.
What is one question that I have for myself today?
And now in your mind's eye,
I invite you to go ahead and write that down on a piece of And now set it aside and pick up the next piece of paper and draw it forward in front of you.
And invite yourself,
If there is something I need to see today,
Allow me to draw it right now on this piece of paper.
And I know this gets a bit trippy,
And if it isn't resonant,
That's okay.
But if something comes forward,
Allow yourself to draw it.
And once that's settled in,
Just go ahead and put it aside.
And before we pick up that third paper,
I'm just going to ask you to clear that space in front of you.
And imagine this lovely natural light just flowing in around you to this space.
Lifting your awareness up from the paper,
But fully embodied.
Bring the awareness of how your skin feels.
Perhaps there's a cool breeze.
Just allowing the awareness and the expansion of your physical being in this space.
Keeping with the breath.
And really inviting that right now,
It is just perfect.
And we're going to go through three cycles of breath.
Again,
Dropping in and settling in.
And with this invitation,
Giving a nod and a hello to that aspect of ourselves that we became aware of at the beginning,
The part of us that knows how to do this.
Really invite that aspect in right next to you or within you,
However it works.
And I invite you now to go back to that original sheet of paper and pull it forward to you.
Place it right in front.
Beautiful natural light.
The air is very comfortable.
You are relaxed.
And take a look down at what you wrote.
And if you don't remember,
That's okay.
The question is,
What do I need to explore today?
And whatever comes forward,
Invite that part of you that knows how to do this,
Who may have already done this,
Who already sees it,
To sit with the question that came forward.
And whatever it is,
If you need to flip the paper over,
Whatever you heard,
Imagine yourself writing down what you heard.
And now I invite you to read that aloud and ask the next question.
Like,
Perhaps it might go,
Well,
What does this mean?
How does that involve me?
How do I feel it?
Allow yourself to get curious.
And allow yourself to have a dialogue with the part of you that already knows how to do this.
And whatever you feel,
It's okay.
Don't judge it.
And if there's a block,
It's okay.
You can always just pause and lean back and bring in the awareness of the breath.
This helps as a filter,
A recentering,
A resetting.
And now I ask you to look down at this sheet of paper,
Whether it's the front or the back,
And just take notice if there's any empty space.
And with the writing implement in hand,
I invite you to ask that wisdom part of you,
Is there anything else I need to know?
And if it helps,
You can write it on the paper.
If that's not resonant,
You can ask yourself,
Where do I feel this in my body?
When perhaps you do,
Perhaps you don't.
That's okay.
Give yourself another cycle of breath.
And actively give a thank you,
A nod,
A gratitude,
And just set it aside for whatever came before.
You don't need to understand it completely.
And so now I invite you to bring forward that next piece of paper where you may have placed a drawing,
A picture,
An image,
Maybe words.
And I invite you to look at anything that you put onto that paper.
And if there was nothing,
That's okay as well.
And I invite you to be with your breath,
Really secure in your center,
And say,
What do I need to understand?
For my highest good.
And you may feel it directly in your body,
Or it may be that wisdom part of you.
You may hear a quiet voice,
Or you may just get a sense.
Even if it's something that doesn't make sense,
Just allow it to come forward and give yourself the opportunity to get curious.
What does that mean?
Why should I care?
Can I drop in and somehow even hear or sense or feel more?
Give yourself another moment,
Another one or two cycles of breath.
And then invite,
If there's anything else I need to hear or understand or receive,
Please bring it forward.
And then when you're ready,
Again with gratitude,
Even if you don't understand what you received,
But just saying thank you.
It's honoring and acknowledging the parts within you that are trying to bring forward information.
Say thank you and set it aside.
And then I ask you to grab that third and final piece of paper,
Parchment,
Whatever it is,
And bring it forward in front of you.
And allow yourself,
Again,
Just to settle in,
Expanding the awareness,
Really realizing what is supporting your body,
Your sits bones,
Your legs.
Your back is being supported by something,
Perhaps what you feel.
This is bringing your awareness and focus,
Staying within the center,
But really kind of giving it a reprieve,
A reset,
A yeah,
We're okay.
And now I ask that you draw your focus back in and be with your breath.
And when you're ready,
Look down at this piece of paper and pick up that writing and implement again whatever it is.
And I invite you to ask yourself,
These things came forward today.
What am I to do with them?
And utilizing that pen,
Pencil,
Crayon,
Marker,
Whatever,
Just allow it to flow through,
Whether it's a word,
A drawing,
A line,
A mark,
It doesn't matter.
And just say,
When I leave here today,
What should I have?
Can you give me a tool to take with me?
And it might be a whisper,
It might be a word,
It might be an action.
And if you don't hear something,
Ask in another way.
And when you feel ready,
Allow a smile to come across your face.
Give a figurative nod.
A nod in gratitude for whatever wisdom may have come forward.
And if particular wisdom didn't come forward,
Give a nod in gratitude for the pause and the gift of this time to yourself.
And this reset.
And allow yourself to set that figurative third piece of paper with the other two and come back to your center.
And so now I invite you just to settle in for another few minutes.
We're just going to really bring balance and resetting to our system.
And so imagine that as you inhale and exhale,
That you're drawing in fresh new air.
And as you exhale,
That you're just releasing anything that's cluttering your breath,
Your space,
Your body,
Your being,
And just release it.
No agenda,
But just a pause of an open,
Beautiful space.
Just to draw in the beauty and release what isn't serving you.
Allow yourself to be settled in with relaxation.
Allowing yourself to be in the I,
That center,
That quiet.
And allowing yourself now to expand in this center from the heart chakra,
From the center,
Whether it's light,
Whether it's this beautiful feeling of just,
Wow,
Love.
And just allow yourself to be with that.
And just be present in this beautiful feeling.
It might even be a frequency that you feel.
What's that like?
Just observe,
Just be with it,
Not looking to change anything.
And allowing another three cycles of breath before we prepare to come out and get grounded.
When you're ready,
A nod,
A figurative nod of thank you.
That goes to yourself,
To that part of you that brings your presence right into your center,
To the part of you that knows how to do this,
To that space that you're in,
This beautiful space.
And now I invite you to just feel yourself sitting up a little bit taller,
Shoulders figuratively going back,
Opening that heart chakra,
And just giving a nod of thank you.
And before you step out,
I invite you to ask that part of you,
If I come back with more questions,
Will you work on communicating with me?
And when you feel ready,
Allow yourself to just really come back into your center,
Begin to feel your body,
Everything that's being supported,
Beginning to move your fingers,
Your,
Perhaps your neck,
Your joints,
And allow yourself to really come back in.
And give a nod of thank you for this time that you've taken to step out of the busy and get ready to step back into the day.
So to each of you,
Thank you.
