Allowing yourself to settle down into stillness.
Settling into your posture.
And closing down your eyes.
In this practice you'll be providing yourself with the opportunity to notice your mind's habit of running off into the future and going over details of the past.
Rather than latching onto these thoughts,
Building stories or narratives,
As best as you can,
Seeing if you can simply allow your thoughts to pass just as easily as they came in.
So beginning by drawing your awareness to rest on the gentle rising and falling of your breath.
Allowing your breath to ground you here in the present moment.
And as you stay with your breath,
Seeing if you can sense into your mind as if it were a clear,
Vast,
Blue sky.
Understanding the sky of your mind as if it were clear and limitless.
The intrusion of thoughts.
Seeing if you can allow yourself to rest into the spacious openness of your mind.
As you continue to experience the rising and falling of your breath.
Then after a while you'll start to become aware of your thoughts like clouds passing through the clear blue sky of your mind.
As best as you can,
Just allowing your thoughts to be there as they are.
Not needing to change anything,
Without building stories or narratives.
Not getting caught up in planning or analyzing or problem solving.
Simply noticing that thoughts are there.
And as best you can,
Allowing them to continue to float on through the clear blue sky of your mind.
Allowing yourself to foster a sense of non-attachment to your thoughts.
Letting your thoughts be transient and cloud-like.
As best as you can,
Continuing to return your awareness to the gentle rising and falling of your breath.
Noticing that thoughts are there.
And allowing them to float on by just as easily as they came in.
Allowing to come home to the experience of your breath.
And then taking your time to draw your breath in a little bit deeper.
And noticing the sounds going on around you.
Drawing your awareness back into the outside world.
When you feel ready,
Lightly blinking your eyes back open.
And doing so again.
Revealing the Self.
